mIcK50
Does anyone have any stories / info about Les Sharpe? I think he rode for Halifax in the late 60's - early 70's.
greybear
Does anyone have any stories / info about Les Sharpe? I think he rode for Halifax in the late 60's - early 70's. He definitely rode for us at Halifax in the early 70s. It was just before I started going. He had one really good season where he was a match for anyone home & away. I believe he also rode well for Australia in test matches around that time. Something in the back of my mind says that he got an injury towards the end of that good season or possible at the start of the next year & his form was never quite the same again. salty
Rode at the Shay in 69 and 70, then missed the next 2 years before returning in 73. Average in 69 was 5.32, in 73 it was 5.20. Seem to remember he had a bad arm injury, so maybe that was why he was missing for a couple of years? He might also have riden some other seasons but memory fails. On his visits to Cradley he was a potent reserve, who was a match winner on at least 1 occasion. Regards
Stats
Ran into Les a couple of years ago. He is now a farrier here in Western Australia.
