Ok here is a forum splitting topic. If you go to Cardiff (I have been twice but not since 2002) do you support

a) The British (or whichever nationality you happen to be) riders at all costs (altogether now……..Gooooood save our….)

b ) Your clubs riders first and foremost but you cheer for the Brits if their results don’t affect your clubs riders progress

c) None of the above you just enjoy speedway

In all honesty I fall into category B, it’s not that I am non-patriotic or anything like that I just feel more alignment with the riders I watch week in week out. It’s the same with football, major tournaments aside, I watch for my team’s (Everton, ahem) players when they play for other nations and am only interested in England when an Everton player is playing (can you guess which one?).

I find this interesting as when I have been to Cardiff then number of American, Swedish and other non-british flags that I see carried around by supporters of British clubs is astonishing so I can’t be alone on this one.

A

being from Arena Though I suppose I could have said either !!

Mind you the constant movemoent at the start from Lee Richardson really gets my goat, cos the refs just seem to ignore it.

I think you should have has a d) as well with the option being, anybody riding against Pedersen.

GO ON THE BRITS.

Ha ha ha, I did think about it but thought the Mods would kick my proverbial if I started another thread mentioning 'that rider'.

I could have had an option for clubs ex-riders also, I frequently cheer for past riders but only really those who have not gone elsewhere i/e Hampel and Gollob. I like to see Rickardsson do well as he is an Ipswich asset but he is soiled goods now he has ridden at Poole B)

i fall into the first category. at the GP last year i cheered on all the british riders like there was no tomorrow. however, i cheered on andreas jonsson if he wasn't in a race with the british guys as well. so it's a little of both, but given the choice in a race between say loram, richardson, jonsson and rickardsson it'll be the 2 british guys.

British of course! with Bo Brhel a close second for being the sprightly old geezer

But then again I seem to just shout anyway regardless of who is on the track - i've been infected with Kelvin Tatum's ohhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooo and can be loudly heard doing it on several bits of prague footage

so in short

A followed by C and unless i've missed Steve Master's inclusion in the GP's this year B is not a problem :D

I fall into catagory C to be honest altho on the day if a rider has bad luck or a bad break I'll tend to shout him on in the next race he is in.

I've never been at the stage I have thought at Cardiff a rider out of order but if it did happen I'd probably want him to loose the next one.

Like Pete I wouldn't say I'm non patriotic-I just see it as an individual event rather than a Nation one

I suppose I'm a bit like Woody, I shout for the Brits first and club members second (but only if they are not in direct competition with the Brits).....mind you it helps that all the Brits involved this year are among my favourite riders ( and most have ridden for Ippo as well)

Newport are my team, also cheer for them first but I'll cheer even a rider I don't like if they have impressed me, I won't cheer for the opposition ebfore a race UNLESS they're Welsh!! Tom Brown and Phil Morris get as much support from me as Newport riders do, EVERY time.

Definitely cheer for Crumpy at a GP - but I also show a little bit of Patriality and shout on Scotty and Mark .... only wish that Mark would make it into the final and give us british supporters something to cheer about instead of having to watch crumpy and TRicky all the time :P

Always cheer on the Brits.

If the Brits drop out, I cheer on TRick.

If Trick drops out I cheer on anyone else who's racing against N Pedersen! :D

I'm with you here Wackie and previous seasons Ryan Sullivan and Todd Wiltshire but............ Only when the Brits are out which hopefully this year we will shout til the end for one or even four of them :approve:

FT you cannot go under A whether Grumpy was born here or not, he wouldn't put his win to us he said it was for Australia :wink:

I cheer on Nicki Pedersen & Ryan Sullivan.

I don't really care if the British boys do good/bad because I am Welsh and England doesn't bother me!  .

aren't they riding for GB though Robbo?

sure you'll be happy for a welsh rider to go into a GB team in the future

You didn't do a category to cover me Pete

Like full throttle I'll yell my head off for Jason Crump, like Splatty, Bo Brhel gets me shouting too (sometimes in frustration :P ) and then the Brits with the exception of LR cos I really can't stand him and his start line antics. Being female tho I reserve the right to shout for any rider who is providing good entertainment :D
