Poole Pirates Vs Plymouth Gladiators Bsn 23/4

Recommended Posts

I think it could be a long season for Plymouth fans.

Klindt and Trigger aside, that was nowhere near remotely good enough.

Cluff and Thompson must be the poorest middle pairing in the league. Thompson was on the arse end of three 5-1s while Cluff was impersonating a speedway rider.

Impressive stuff from Poole, especially the main body of the team.

Add Barker to the list as well

Other than a brave battle from Nicolai, it was very easy for Pirates who had riders getting used to the track and playing with setups. Big well done to Zach who has started this season by stepping into his older brothers boots and scoring well. His paid max tonight including a sublime pass of Klindt.

Kerr had one duff ride but one his others and as the evening went on, started using more of the track. Starke was ok and scoring paid 7 is more than his low average. Rowe and Lawson fine, Tobias excellent and aggressive. Matt Marson clearly just making up the numbers.

Plymouth battled but the team has to be favourites for the wooden spoon. Two riders short of competitive. Be interesting if they can bounce back and win on Saturday night.

They’ll have to do it without Lasse who has been called up for international duty. One of the Kennedy’s from Scunny lined up to guest.

Easy for Poole in the second half of the meeting. Thought Lasse was going to have a good meeting but the fall related to the shed chain followed be the mechanical failure on his second bike done for his evening. Only Klindt had the class to take the fight to the Pirates although young Ben Trigger done well. Joe Thomson and Mitchell Cluff  looked a weak 3 and 4 on this showing and suspect a change won't be long in coming. Alfie Bowtell and Ben Barker offered little. Tough place to go but on this showing Plymouth will struggle away.

Well sorry for those who found it boring, maybe that's partly down to not being there. It was pretty tight to start with but around heat 6 where Lawson & Thompsen had a good tussle in turns 1&2 coming close to coming off. From there on the tide turned, which we know all about being by the sea. Marson is my concern, not alot of fight or speed in him that I could see.

Klindt was the class of Plymouth for sure, but not so great if he's not in front.

Marson is a poor rider, we just have to cope with 6 riders at the moment and it was boring for some partly because the Pirates have a much better team, Plymouth looked poor and partly because we won which doesnt suit some peoples agenda.

Marson is a poor rider at this level. Stick him in the NDL and he will score points. It was never expected that he would score points other than the occasional gift.  We are currently a 6 man team with an extra rider to make up the numbers.

I was impressed with Tobias. Showed a much more ruthless side to his riding last night. Knows his job and in the first two matches has done this very well. Being a second string he is going to have poor meetings but so far so good. Zack is on 🔥

Let’s not forget that Plymouths reserves are a point or 2 higher than Marson so it’s more likely that he will struggle against those. Let’s see how he gets on against other 2 point reserve riders. He did seem to improve though out the meeting and were it not for a silly mistake in his final race he may have got a point.

Zach seems to have gone up a level this season which is to our benefit and Belle Vue's. I agree Tobias was very impressive and now he has had a  season he will be better at away tracks too.

Apart from Marson I thought all the team looked good, didnt think Starke was great at Oxford but was better last night although against weaker opposition.

Let's also not forget that Poole (39.04) have the lowest team average of all the Championship clubs! Yes even slightly lower than Plymouth (39.09).😉

Lasse must be the unluckiest rider in the league, and a change of club hasn't changed that. Given some better fortune he'll do a fine job at reserve for Plymouth.

Very early days for Cluff. I remember when Max Fricke started at Edinburgh he hardly scored a point for the first month or so.

Matt Marson is in the NDL and scoring points for Monarchs Academy. 8+1 v Middlesbrough including beating Tom Spencer & Ace Pijper, who are reserves in the Championship.

Good points, so far Marson has ridden against teams with strong reserves.

I'd wait till he's ridden against fellow 2 point riders before calling Poole a 6 man team.
