Are you ok? Any sportsperson can get complacent when constantly winning and therefore think they can turn up and just win. All teams have said we are the strongest so that can bring complacency in itself, I was not referencing what you wrote at all. I haven’t even said we are complacent, I simply stated it can creep in at any point. You show your knowledge of sports by the last post about if one team beats one, and we’ve beaten the first team, then we will easily win, sport isn’t that simple

Expand

When you are paid per point I would suggest zero complacency...

The Home meetings are where the vast majority of riders make their money, so will "fill their boots" if they get a chance to...

The only threat to the Witches this season for me is their own fans getting bored of them hammering teams at Foxhall and then picking and choosing meetings...

(5-1's can be some of the most boring races to watch given one rider often just follows their team mate as the rider in third can be miles away)...

Ironically though they will attract some good attendances away from home, with their opponents reaping all the financial benefit...

I am even debating whether to attend Sheffield when the Witches are there..

And I haven't travelled anywhere other than BV for years as no team match ups have given me any interest in attending...

Ipswich beat Belle Vue by 54 on aggregate.

Belle Vue beat King's Lynn by 24 on aggregate.

King's Lynn beat Oxford by 32 on aggregate.

So I can't see Ipswich getting less than 60. Could get 65+

It really doesn’t work like that though does it? No two meetings are the same you could run all those meetings you’ve listed again next week and you’d get totally different results in all of them.

Enjoy the meeting, however if you’re expecting to see the Witches I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed..

On your point about the fans getting bored and not attending due to thrashings every week, does that really happen in sport? In my experience the biggest attendances generally come when the team is successful so I’m not sure I agree with you.

When the play offs get confirmed so early, it can reduce attendance's at the meetings that are still left to be completed...

"Dead Rubbers" against a clearly bottom 3 team don't always stimulate those less regulars that make the real difference financially....

The die hards will be the ones always there regardless...

maybe Ipswich is bit different to others, but the attendances at Foxhall seem to be consistently good no matter the opposition/competition or whether a play off place has already been confirmed. They rarely if ever, seem to drop below a noticeable level. The only visible difference is a bigger than normal increase which occurs on Bank Holidays, and when the team is doing particularly well. I guess it helps when your team has two superstars leading the team who entertain no matter what the circumstances. Always worth the entrance fee.

Let’s hope the Oxford boys bring their trapping gloves, that’s where the action will come from. If the Witches fly out of the traps it’ll be non existent. Let’s hope the Witches are sluggish from the tapes and put the new banking to the test.

You mean heat 13.

Bend 2 lap 1.

Is that all you’ve got?

Meanwhile, the witch tracks down his mate……..

Witch: Look, I don’t think I got my point across. It’s the fact that Belle ‘chequebook’ Vue signed a GP rider to gain success.

Mate: Wait a minute, the seasons over he could only have ridden 3-4 meetings.

Witch: Yes, splashing the cash, can’t stand ‘em.

Mate: But Ipswich spent money on 2 GP superstars, one an ex world champion for the WHOLE season.

Witch: Ones not a GP star now, that’s how we got him.

Mate: You’d be better off focusing on the fact that moneybags Belle Vue cherrypicked their own GP star. How is Max by the way?

Witch: They actually signed him on a 4.50 averaged and he blossomed into a GP star whilst with them.

Mate: OK bad example, any other GP stars they’ve bought in like you guys?

Witch : Well no, they did the same with Brady and Dan Bewley.

Mate: Right, sounds like a good way of doing things, if you don’t mind me saying.

Witch : I do mind.

Mate: You have Tom Brennan, you looked after him from being a youngster.

Witch: That was another club. We don’t need to talk about Tom.

Mate: I’ve heard of Bewley, how did they get him?

Witch: He started with their junior team.

Mate: Junior team, what’s that?

Witch: Doesn’t matter.

Mate: I know about your junior GP. I bet Belle Vue don’t have anything like that.

Witch : Look, I said it doesn’t matter.

Mate: OK, you’re not even paying attention now anyway, you’re just playing on your phone. Are you trolling the socials again?

Witch exits stage left.

I am considering not going this Thursday simply because I'm expecting a thrashing and travelling back from Doncaster - the BV meeting was dire.  Stronger opposition then I'd be more likely to.

Somehow they’ll manage to fit everyone in again. Manipulate the system to get a rider who graduated out of the RS system in ‘24 back into it for ‘25. Probably next year will manage to slip D Thompson back into the RS scheme.

The league table has a familiar look to it, even at this early stage...😄

Ouch! What a sad individual with, obviously, a lot of time on their hands.

P.S. If I had a brother, he would be bigger than yours!
