And the one last evening at Oxford. I think this is quite common early season though to be fair. Normally improves when things settle down and you get in to the season properly.

We need to accept that meetings at nearly every track are not going to be thrill a minute with passing in almost every heat. Was it ever any different though? I’ve been watching speedway for over 40 years and despite people saying the entertainment isn’t what it was due to various reasons, I personally don’t think it’s any different now to what it’s ever been. We all know the NSS is a cut above in terms of racing, but after travelling up and down the country watching speedway the last few years, the rest all seem to be very similar in what they produce. Mostly processional with a few really good heats throw in. But again, it’s always been that way in my experience.

Think you need to calm down a bit. Enjoy a resounding win of course, but it was Birmingham at home.

Is there a reason you’ve conveniently forgotten about the Emil crash that ended his and Ipswich’ season? There was a very real safety issue there last season whether you choose to deny it until you’re blue in the face or not. Your very own riders criticised the track live on TV, we all heard it. Again deny it all you like, but the dirt pile up by the fence WAS dangerous for anyone brave enough to go out there. The majority wisely chose not to.

"It wasn't about the track at Sheffield, it was about the fence. I hit it with the footrest going into the third bend. The fence was not straight and that's what caused the incident. I like the track when I can ride the berm."

I think you are trying to split hairs there.  The fence is the perimeter of the track and it caused an accident on the track.

If the fence wasn't there - you think the track would be safe then?

He's not the first to come unstuck with the D shape down the back straight.

People keep complaining about the dirt build up but that's not what caused the crash.

I've seen more injuries at Scunny than at Owlerton.

Personally, watching them scrape the fence looks terrifying but that's why I'd never get on a bike!

That’s Emil in a nutshell tbh very philosophical. People should watch it again, huge amounts of shale was getting caught up in his machine and it was like putting the brakes on and off around the third and fourth bend. We all have a pair of eyes and we could all see the huge collection of dirt by the fence. Why people choose to deny it was an issue is mind boggling. The Holders themselves even admitted there was an issue there that needed rectifying.

It’s not as daft a suggestion as it seems. No it won’t happen of course, but would it improve the entertainment if dialled in home riders started behind the visiting riders? 100% yes.

Not as daft as it seems?...No, it's dafter. For a start, how would you define a "dialled in" home rider, and who would be responsible for nominating who gets handicapped and who doesn't?

I never witnessed it but the Olympique at Wolves used to use handicap races and they're also common in the US.  The other suggestion about weight as a handicap is also not as daft as it sounds and would be a leveller in terms of moving the total weight around the track.  Also, it might encourage some fat guys to take up the sport 😆

The match last night reminded me of the very late 90s when I first started attending meetings at Owlerton - Sean Wilson and co reigned supreme and pretty much stuffed teams out of sight every week - it was pretty dull to be honest, the only real highlights would be if a visiting no 1 came and had a good go. I think we have to put this down as a bad one and hope the next match V's Kings Lynn is better at least we have Bomber to look forward too - he will give it a go!!

Result wasn't much of a surprise Tigers were always going to react after Woofinden's injury.  The fact Zagar scored very little doesn't surprise me, the few times I saw him at Owlerton for Belle Vue he had one reasonable ride from memory.  Musielak posting such a low score does surprise me, he was almost unbeatable around Owlerton when I saw him riding for Sheffield.

does anyone know when the last Sheffield rider, on his debut, got a maximum, paid or otherwise?

Expand

At home...Jack Holder v Wolves in 2021, paid max, he had previously ridden away for the Tigers that season, scoring 19 out of 21 on his full debut

In 2018, Kyle Howarth, Charles Wright and Lasse Bjerre all scored paid max's on home debuts

With Zagar it depends on what mood he's in ...very unreliable..Musielak hasnt got the cushion of having good riders in the team like at Sheffield..More pressure on him being number 1 at Brum ...

100%...

The big difference isnt the overall racing  but the size of the crowds...

An "average" meeting (of which most were just like today), didn't seem so average when you had decent crowd numbers who brought noise and a fair few away fans to add a bit of rivalry and increased the atmosphere...

We're doing it for Tai. If Ipswich think they've got the Premiership title all sown up, they need to think again. There are more teams that will receive a mauling from a Sheffield team in this mood. Even from his hospital bed, Tai is having an influence beyond all expectations.... and what a captain we've found!

They have barring Injuries or Poland withdrawing Emil's starting permission.

Where are 91+ Points going to come from over two legs against them?

Best equipment etc...?

Pile of rubbishe!

There was no money tonight, they donated their wages to tai, there is no such thing as best equipment is in Poland, an engine for Poland won’t work in England and they use tubeless tyres over there which give lots more grip, they are banned here
