Weeyin
So first meeting for the Scottish contingent of the league, Re- introduced Scottish cup. Will be interesting to see how both teams get on, some Glasgow riders have had some races under their belt and are looking good, Sedgy has had an outing but unsure about the other Monarchs, Victor has been over here before so knows what to expect, will be interesting to see how their other newbies fare. Looking forward to going to armadale on Friday, hope the weather plays fair, forecast ok at present. As for prediction, I think it will be a reasonably close encounter but obviously hoping for a Glasgow win.
Noelinho
I'm quite excited to see how the Edinburgh team fare. It would be good to see some different teams fighting for the playoffs this year, and I'm hoping Edinburgh can make a good impression. After we smash them a few times early doors, obviously.

Edinburgh have a couple of riders new to UK this year so it remains to be seen if they can hit the ground running. Paco did well last year and would expect Kye Thomson to bounce back better after last seasons injuries. Victor looks to be on a bargain average so he should certainly improve on that and captain Sedgy looks to be on decent early form. Has to be said that Tigers have put together an overall strong looking side with an impressive quartet of Harris, Howarth, Flint and Thompson. If Boughen does what many people believe he is capable of then Tigers could be in for a good season. Very impressed with how Dan Thompson has come on recently in both leagues and I bet that some teams are envious as he will be the one to watch in 2025 I reckon. On paper at least it should be a close encounter especially if Monarchs 2 new boys can master a completely new track to them. That could well be key to the final outcome. .

To be fair It was last season Dan really kicked on at Plymouth, he looks to have went up another level at the start of this season. Should bode well barring injuries.
TheWellBehavedWorrall Posted yesterday at 07:12 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:12 AM Hoping for a Tigers’ win, but Armadale is such a tight track, who knows? It might only be the Scottish Cup which is in essence a friendly, but it’s a huge opportunity to lay down an immediate marker after last season’s disappointment. From what I’ve read, those who have appearances under their belt have done well, so long may that continue. I have to say, for all I’ll criticise Edinburgh as our rival, I love a trip to Armadale and I’m delighted speedway continues there.
szkocjasid Posted yesterday at 07:51 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:51 PM I think Edinburgh's reserves will heavily outscore Glasgow's, so expecting a home win.

Possibly but Max Perry did ride for the Monarchs NDL team last season so the experience should be beneficial. Fully expect Victor to heavily out score both of them, still don’t think it’ll be enough. With the top 5 Glasgow have paid for sorry assembled should still be enough to get the job done would be shocked if they didn’t.

I'll suggest Monarchs scoring at least 8 more points than Glasgow at reserve. Is that heavily outscoring, down to personal opinion I guess? Yes, that's definitely heavily outscoriing, or is for me anyway, but I think you underestimate the Glasgow reserves (as have others).
Jaizer
I see monarchs website has Victor at reserve, I'd thought they'd be made have grahn at reserve as victor had a higher average on his last UK spell. That's a game changer as I'd expect him to be taking 7 rides. Will Grahn or polis beat any of the stripes top 5? That will decide the match imo. Still fancy a tigers win but much tighter

Young Dan was also a revelation for the Witches last season tbf and was riding well enough to rise out of the reserve position and ride at the much harder number 2 position b4 he had his shoulder injury that pretty much ended his season with Ipswich, he's started this season in the same kind of form he was in b4 his injury last season so hopefully he'll kick on again this year.

Because they will want to win the meeting particularly at home against their biggest rivals who have had the Indian sign over them last few years. Pretty straightforward really. Also, what's point in having a strong reserve and not using him 🤷🏼♂️

I assure you the Monarchs & Tigers fans will care & love to get one over on their arch rivals. The management may decide it's more valuable to give all the riders 4 rides each, but that doesn't mean the Scottish Cup means nothing. I'm not sure there such a thing as a "friendly" when it comes to Edinburgh & Glasgow lol!
TheWellBehavedWorrall
I think a lot will depend on the performances of Grahn and Polis. If they hit the ground running, it could be a tight meeting, but if they do a Matic Ivacic and ride like they’ve never seen a speedway bike before, it could be a long night for Edinburgh. There’s a lot of pressure and expectation on Glasgow’s top five, but if they deliver, it affords Hodder and Perry the time they inevitably need to develop and progress. Really looking forward to it; the speedway and the portion of chips.
Fromafar
Tigers might want to keep it tight to encourage Monarchs supporters to Ashfield for 2nd leg.🤔

The more I look at Tigers top end, think I fancy them for the win now, will Paco & Sedgmen be able to score double figures against Glasgow's top 4? Maybe my previous prediction was based more on hope as I'd love the Monarchs to win this one.
