Birmingham were crap, no surprise there. I do think they will get better though. A brand new side on a track that some of them of barely done a lap round it, it was always going to be a big ask to start strong against a decent Lions side. I do think even before this meeting the team is bang average. Toby is a great rider but I can't see any other riders giving him big support in heats 13 and 15 , Zagar isn't that rider anymore. The rest of the side OK, that's about it. OK. The battle for 5th place will be interesting between Oxford and Birmingham that's sure.

Battle for 5th? Who do you see below these two to finish 7th?

Surely that's a mistake & it's meant to say battle for 6th?

That's what press & practice day is for... it's just a shame that 1 particular rider didn't show and then went on to only score 2 points, you reap what you sow, maybe he thought it wasn't worth it as he'll be off by the end of next month.

Fail to prepare... prepare to fail!

The first home meeting was always going to be the best time to go to Birmingham and so it proved. In addition to timing, the Leicester Team has a number of riders that really like Perry Bar, so from the home sides perspective possibly the worst opposition they could of had.

Tracks are generally prepared much slicker these days and the general consensus is friendly matches are not considered so this is what happens when riders are unprepared and lack match practice and race fitness.

You can’t have it both ways.

Of course the fact that Birmingham hasn’t got a strong line up doesn’t help but their are better sides than Leicester and the fact that they totally rolled you over doesn’t bode well at all.

I watched on the stream. It looked very concerning for Birmingham fans.

MJJ surprised me with his comments on Sunday that he had come to the UK for some fun & if he enjoys riding his bike he will stay for abit longer ? Which fits into the rumours he is only in the UK until May.

He certainly rode last night like he was only here for a casual fun ride on his bike .

I don't think he was even that good! (casual/fun)

I've seen faster 'kids' on our local streets causing mayhem etc....!

Adams comments about bike set ups, I am no mechanic but just how much of a set up does it need for almost every rider to consistently miss the gate over 15 Heats ?, we are talking professional speedway riders here not some 16 year old just starting out, we know Perry Barr is a gaters track so they need to sort it out for the next home meeting, next Monday would have been ideal to have held the Alan Grahame meeting either as an individual meeting or a team meeting to get some much needed competitive practice in, but what do we have? we have a National Development meeting, someone at Brum needs to get the priorities right.

Could be a long hard season for young Rew especially after sharing the pits with Jason & Emil for the past 2 seasons.

Rew was the stand out Brummie last night, always in the mix

Spot on. If you are professional sportsman you should do your research on the track and seek advice on bike set ups, even more so if you’re not familiar with the track. Early posts on this thread imply that the club is jinxed. Continued poor rider recruitment is not bad luck!

In all fairness, Musielak at number 1 was a good signing as has proven himself as a number one in the UK in recent years. Also MJJ had a superb season in Poland last year so for them pair to get 6 points between them is a surprise. On paper they are two good signings.
