Championship Pairs April 5th 3pm (Workington)

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what’s actually going on with Craig Cook?

When I last attended speedway several years ago, he was a GP rider and the Championship’s top dog for Edinburgh.

I then returned in 2023 and what he’s become, I don’t even know how to word.

I’ve never seen a rider put in such little effort as he did at the 2023 CLRC at Redcar. He push started for two or three rides, then we never saw him again. He was a disgrace.

Then, that social media post he aimed at Workington because they didn’t bring him back for 2025 was at best, unprofessional and at worst, bitter. Workington must have had a crystal ball, given what’s transpired.

More improvements made, now got proper toilets and standing on bend 3/4 and can walk all around the arena now , without going out and back in

Not QUITE True Sir !   You still cant walk from the 2nd bend to the back straight without leaving the stadium and re-entering, or you have to walk back the long way round via Bends 3 and 4.

Isn't that what he said?

He inferred that you can walk "all round", which would mean you can walk completely round the whole stadium. But you cant entirely, as the pits entrance gets in the way. So if you want to walk from bend 2 to the back straight you can either walk back the long way round, via Bends 3 and 4, or you have to leave the stadium by one entrance and enter it by another entrance. Hope this clarifies it.

Answer my question.....can you walk completely round the entire stadium and end up where you started from, without going back on yourself or leaving the stadium ?

Don't think you can completely walk around any UK speedway stadium, but with the improvements you can access ALL viewing areas without going outside to get back in 😅

Used to be able to do that at Arena-Essex with the "bridge" over the pits. I say the Division 2 Pairs there in 1994 won by Swindon.

Kinda sad looking back & realising how many tracks & teams are no longer running. So Workington opening back up & a new stadium no less is awesome. I'll need to get down sometime.

It's common knowledge that at times Craig struggles with his mental health. If he's not in a good place at this moment in time, then he's done the right thing in not riding. Let's hope he's getting the help he needs and we see him back riding soon.

Couldn't really knock his commitment last season, save for when his partner was expecting, he delivered in most meetings from what I saw.  Still an excellent rider at Championship level when he's in the right place.
