crazysue
Hi, arrived last night into Aarhus airport and was met by a driver holding a card with my name on it (just like the movies), was driven to the local train station, where I got on a train to Fredericia (that was an adventure in itself) where I was met by my friend, I am now in Vejen and will be making the trip to Copenhagen in a little while (need to have some breakfast first to soak up the beers from last night). At least I can say I got to see quite a bit of Denmark in my whirlwind visit here.

gooner_girl4eva
Yes good to meet you JY2003 Excellent GP. I am defo going to more GP's abroad now. Thought it was a shame they didnt let you in for practice especially as it was pouring down and they kept saying they weren't insured to let others in etc. Well I would have risked it if I had been allowed Enjoyed my flight there as on board was Ryan Sullivan and Scott Nicholls Lots of Brits had travelled, more than I expected but to be honest I thought the city lacked a lot of atmosphere during the day, you wouldn't have known there was a speedway gp on unless you had been at Parken. It should be better advertised for sure. I sat on the 1st bend and the lighting was terrible where I was, I luckily managed to move to row 1 so that was better but if I go again to Parken, I will sit elsewhere. Fireworks at the end were very impressive too! It was a good gp, the Danes rode exceptionally well. Gutted for Nicki, would have been great for him to have won but fair play for him being a gentleman to retrieve his bike in the final, he certainly won a lot of respect and some new fans for that, good on him Thought AJ had his best chance of winning a GP last night, disappointed he didnt do more with it. Crumpy was well fired up after the "incident" with Nicki so I think that spurred him onto the win. Felt so sorry for Scotty in that semi, how close to getting in the final, and also felt sorry for Rico's exclusion. Not a good night for the Brits. Overall I enjoyed my first GP abroad and will be making it a regular ocassion! Met loads of lovely speedway fans (bar the drunken danes who were sitting nearby) and enjoyed visiting a new city, just hope I see more of the sun next time! crazysue
I've just got back in and I am absolutely shattered. Since Friday, I have spent over 8 hours on a train, 5 hours in a car and 45 mins in a bus...plus the flight. Must say I have never visited such a friendly country, everyone was helpful and would talk no problems at all (even if it was to a mad englishwoman). I agree with Jess, you didn't get any atmosphere untill you was near to Parken not like Cardiff at all, but in the stadium was a different matter. I had excellent seats at the start/finish line in the midst of a very strong Danish contingent and amongst the band members from the pre gp entertainment,,,,by the end of the night we were clinking plastic beer glasses together. I only arrived in Copenhagen at 5pm on Saturday, so a quick dash to the hotel, drop the bags off and get into a taxi for the stadium, then had a search for any Brits (didn't see any outside). The Danes were excellent with me and commiserated when Scotty went out...then encouraged me to help support the Danes (didn't take much persausion after several Carlsberg). Getting back to the hotel was a bit of a nightmare but was a blessing in dusguise as I started talking to loads of people on the walk back (while we were all trying to get taxi's). Got talking to a load of them and ended up having a great meal out and finally arriving back at the hotel at 2am. Journeying back today was tiring, as I set off at 3pm and finally reached my door about 20 mins ago, and I must admit I was proud of myself with being able to work out the danish rail system and get on the right train!!! All in all a great experience.....would I do it again....YES, would I go on my own again....not sure.

garf
Piccies from my Danish GP experience are now on my webshots.....although no exciting pics from the pits this time. Believe me Sue. The pit-tent was not that interesting at all. Loads of people and no space. The resting area with all the vans were far more fun.

21st century heathen
Can't argue with that. I had a free pint off a couple of Danes sat behind. Didn't want to drink any more, didn't want to waste it, and didn't want the money. As for the prices... (just as bad as Sweden) £1.65/£1.70 for a 500ml bottle Coke 85p for a Mars/Twix £5.00 for a Breezer etc... Fast food was about the same price though. This is probably not the prizes in a store or supermarket, rather the prize in a bar or similar. Definitively not as bad as Sweden though. 21st century heathen
This was from the 7 eleven and similar, but admitedly the breezer was from the Hard Rock Cafe so a little over priced. I paid £7 for a rum and coke in Sweden last year. (only had 1 though) By contrast I went to Kos and had a double cocktail, and 3 shots of watermelon vodka for 5 euro, about £3.50. (had lots of those)

At least I hope you enjoyed your stay in Denmark anyway. Cya
