Aries
Merry March! Speedway month has finally arrived. Still just over three weeks until this one, too early for a thread? Meh, who cares it’s been a long Winter! First competitive fixture of the new season and it couldn’t have started with a better fixture IMO. Will Witches make a better fist of things here than we have in recent years? It has to happen sooner or later, the team is too good not to. A lot will depend on Doyle and how he starts the season. Thankfully, he has two or three warm up meetings before this so that should help. Within 10 and its job done, will fancy us to finish the job at Foxhall if we can manage that.

Definitely 3, possibly 4. Including a very helpful one at Belle Vue a week before this fixture 😉 We should be winning this over 2 legs really. Steve Irving
Incredibly difficult to predict opening meetings when you have no kind of form guide. In theory Ipswich should comfortably win the tie on aggregate because they have a better side, that’s a fact. BUT, Ipswich have more questions that need answering than Belle Vue. Has King’s hand surgery worked? Or will he still be heavily restricted in his movement? Doyle’s first competitive meeting for nearly a year, will he be sharp or sluggish. You never know how riders start the season either, even world class riders. Emil last year had all sorts of issues mechanically and didn’t get going for a couple of months. He inevitably found the solutions and started blitzing everybody again but it just shows it’s almost impossible to predict opening meetings.

Baldyman
As with any Belle Vue v Ipswich tie,, it's all down to how close ipswich can keep the score at the NSS. Belle Vue also fare very well at Foxhall early season in recent times,, I wouldn't like to call the winner over 2 legs, although Ipswich do look the stronger team of the 2 on paper

ouch
Looking forward to our now customary KO Cup 1st round against one of the title favourites (unless it’s us of course). Considering it’s a random draw we’ve had terrible luck in drawing the toughest of opponents so early every time. Always having the second leg away doesn’t help either (see 2024). Looks like the swings & roundabouts are broke. Can’t see us progressing due to the strength of the witches. We need to make use of our massive home advantage* to build up a big lead. Using BSPL figures from last season our rider averages at home are a healthy 42.83 (equates to a 46 match score) so if we build a big enough lead we can take advantage at Foxhall where their rider averages at home are only 49.52 (equates to a 53 match score). *copywrite BSF

Cant see the 'unfortunate-ness' when Ipswich are clearly the best side by a country mile .... Doyle and Sayfutinov will hit the ground running....its not in their nature to 'ease' back in to it....they will have done a lot of winter training and laps!! They are the best side but they had serious injuries, hope they are back to somewhere near their best, there are no guarantees. There are some who think everything is against Belle Vue who are also one of the best teams.
GiveusaB
I think its good that one of the so called best teams get dumped out the cup early....it gives one of the other teams (most likely Sheffield/Kings Lynn) a chance of some silverware 😃 (mind you....does silverware count for much these days?) that's a whole new topic I guess! I see this a lot and to be honest, it annoys me. Absolutely it does and not just the supporters either. At the end of the day, this is sport, it’s win or lose and it’s competitive. Ask Chris Louis off record if he’s bothered if Ipswich finally win the title or not.. 1

Since Covid our opening meetings have seen us lose 2 and win 2 with one of those wins being a last heat decider. Our famous home advantage goes missing - again.
