Genghis
Does anyone have information about PJS ignition systems based in Thorn Hill, Southampton in the 1980s? I have recently acquired a PJS magic box hopefully suitable for a Weslake points ignition. The box has a red circular badge on the top with the PJS sign in white letters. I understand other PJS boxes were badged with different colour ie green, Is this colour coding of any significance? There is also a sticker on the side of the box with a phone number 0703 464105. I have been told PJS closed years ago hence the request for any information, parts list/instruction manual. I am rebuilding a Weslake bike and intend to have the magic box made serviceable assuming this is the correct box for my Weslake. I presume the internal parts, rechargeable batteries and coil are still available and from whom? Also any recommendations of who to contact for a cost effective ignition box overhauled would be very helpful.

It will be cheaper to buy a new box than have that one recommissioned, nobody really repairs them these days, trackspark sell them for around £260 new
Genghis
Thank you, I did wonder if this would be the case of purchasing a new one. It seems a shame to have what is effectively a "period piece" left sitting in the workshop and the bike not being 100% original. I have checked the batteries (6x 1.7Ah 1.2V) size C rechargeable but not even sure as to whether these are correct as original, or have been changed /upgraded. A new one it may have to be, but i would still be interested in any info on PJS and their boxes.

It producd a spark, but whether it's good enough to run an engine is debatable. You might find yours still works?
Vince
Might be worth contacting Interspan, might be he can repair your box or maybe even put one of his products in your case. Contact - Interspan-Ignition
