OveFundinFan Posted yesterday at 05:32 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:32 AM Received the statement below this morning from Discovery+ My comments......I currently pay £6.99pm, can't justify paying £30.99pm. if they allow monthly membership of my choice I will select a month or two with say 3 GPs (June comes to mind). Already lost winter fuel allowance, energy prices up, council tax going up, and I don't think Labour has finished with pensioners yet, so something has to go. ......................... On 28 February 2025, the Eurosport and TNT Sports brands will be brought together, with all sports content available in one single destination via TNT Sports. This in turn means the discovery+ Standard plan & Eurosport linear channels are closing. What about my subscription? On your next renewal date on or after today, the price of your plan will decrease to the price of the Basic plan at £3.99/month. From 28 February, Sports content, including Eurosport 1 & 2, will no longer be included in your plan. From your next renewal on or after 28 February, you will continue to renew on the Basic plan unless you cancel in your account before that renewal. If your plan was previously ad-free in on-demand content, on-demand content in the Basic plan contains ads. To continue to access sports content, you can either upgrade your plan to the Premium (incl. TNT Sports) plan before 28 February 2025, or resubscribe to Premium after this date

Mick Bratley
A 350% increase in the monthly subscription! I suspect they’ll bring some sort of deal out that will be less, but it will almost certainly be more than speedway fans were paying before. cowboy cookie returns?
The best hope is that it ends up on quest, I’m certainly not paying additional monthly subscription to watch speedway on tv. If the truth be told I can’t see it being on TV anywhere once the current deal expires. We can definitely forget Sky the promoters certainly missed an opportunity with that golden goose & the sport is in a worse position then when Sky dumped it. noggin
I dumped TNT/BTSports during covid, not paying their high prices.
Falcon1983
Speedway will be OK once Eurosport disappears because the decision has been made by WDS who operate the promotional rights to the GPs British Speedway is more of a Monday night filler so will be fine, not many major sports that could take its place run on Mondays from 7pm
OveFundinFan
I just informed Discovery+ I am cancelling my subscription, told them the reason why, cant afford. Now cancelling the direct debit.

OGT
It's not just speedway, BSB and WSBK fans are saying the same things. TNT have shot themselves in the foot with this one I feel. It's a shame for folks who were on a tight budget anyway, before this. Edited 13 hours ago by OGT
OveFundinFan
Update....I went online to cancel subscription, before I pressed the "cancel" button there was an offer on the screen 7 months at the premium price, £30.99pm LESS 50% pm, for the next 7 months, works out at £108.50, Problem with that is the deal would end before the end of the speedway GP and SON season, plus under the 2024 pricing 7x £6.99 is £49, so still a significant difference. I still cancelled. I will take a look before the first GP see if any offers on.
Hodgy
I’ve always paid my way but my reward is a rip off from every station. Finally forced to the firestick, no regrets. It’s their fault so many resort to this. The more that turn to this option - I hope they will realise why. My subscription went up over 200%. I’ve been a loyal customer since day 1. Increase after increase - I’m out. From what I’ve read about Eurosport / Discovery Speedway this season, many more will do the same. Get a stick and f*** em. Aries
Do we even know if Speedway will be on TNT before anyone signs up? I’m not sure legally how it works. Even though the contract was for another year with Eurosport, do TNT have to fulfil those contractual obligations, or are they now null and void after Eurosport were brought out? I’m not convinced TNT will be overly interested in screening to be honest.. Edited 11 hours ago by Aries

GP'S would be shown i'm sure ? Edited 10 hours ago by AceBelle
Fromafar
Maybe an opening for BSN to step in if they think it would be viable.Certainly no problem with their coverage of the sport up till now.Dont know the “ ins and outs” regarding TV rights though.
Neila
We’re letting you know that from 28 February 2025, the Eurosport and TNT Sports brands will be brought together. All your existing sports content currently on Eurosport 1 & 2 will be available on TNT Sports channels 1 to 4. TNT Sports in the UK will become the new home for a host of live sports including Tennis, Cycling, Snooker and the Olympics. Any on-demand content currently in the discovery+ app is unaffected by this change. Thank you, Email from BT who I get phone and broadband with, I get free discovery via the app, reading this hopefully this will continue this season, so I can still watch the speedway via the app on my smart TV
