Surely it would be appropriate for Chris Harris to feel the touch of steel upon his shoulders?

Why would anybody involved in speedway be given a nationally recognised award for a sport thats been going down the toilet for years ?

Whilst certain individuals have given their all within the sport, the likes of Woffinden , not only with 3 world titles but also his charity efforts , Harris, Nicholls etc, they get large financial rewards for it and , lets face it, no one outside of speedway has ever heard of any of them .

In the considerably higher profile Formula 1 twelve Brits have become world champion. Of those only four have been knighted, and with one exception [Lewis Hamilton] they have all been after retirement.

So why would anyone think a competitor who once finished sixth in the world in a considerably lower profile sport is beyond me.

There you go, using facts to support a SM post, rather than a mindless opinion. I thought you may well know better at your age! At best, Tai he should be nominated for an MBE & frankly I am not sure he deserves it it comparison to other sportspeople who have not received an award yet.

I think Sir is a bit too much but maybe an Mbe? anyone can nominate a person for an award, its on the Gov.Uk website

Which speedway riders have been decorated? I can think of Ronnie Moore, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger, Peter Collins and Kelvin Tatum off hand. All MBEs I believe. Any others?
