It would be nice if we could get a few more people to commit their support (and money) to the project. I really hope that all the fans that pledged to finanancially donate, actually do that. I pledged my support at the meeting and will donate  as soon as I get the details. There has been a lot of effort being put in to getting this unique project off the ground, its never been done before and it will be great if it succeeds.

Wow, those pictures look pretty foreboding.

Will have to be one hell of a safety fence to overcome requirements and no doubt it will be expensive.

Hope all goes well for the return irrespective of the new obstacle.

I must admit it was concerning to see those pictures, hopefully can be sorted & not he overly expensive. Shame the track will be narrower, hope it doesn't hinder the racing.

Wasn't there a similar wall and posts in place before?

Steve has quoted on the website “as we had not been to the speedway stadium for a month, we were slightly taken aback by the solidity of the new Stock Car fence”.

it does seem surprising to say that they had not been to the track for a month.  Am I the only one who feels that if you have gone to all of this effort to return speedway, you would have visited the site regularly.  I am not criticising him and I hope speedway returns to Mildenhall, but this does appear to be a major over site, unless he was given reassurances.

I really hope that Mildenhall managed to get the issues sorted.

New air barrier and extensive padding for the RSJ's and concrete wall sounds like an incredibly expensive but necessary requirement.

I note the reference to a foam barrier at Lynn, is that the actual air fence or the protection underneath it?

Big advantage of kings Lynn foam barrier riders who fall don’t tend to end up underneath it air fences lift up and offer less protection - Chris Holders crash at Coventry is prime example.

Thanks, is the barrier taken down after each meeting?

Taken down before stock car meetings but I guess if no stocks it’s left up until the next speedway meeting

The fence is a pretty standard modern stock car fence. The posts will have two or three wires (think pit head machinery lifting gear) on them to make the fence high enough to stop cars joining the spectators. Aldershot, Ipswich and until closure Arena Essex all have similar fences.

Not ideal for speedway but vital for car racing safety.

Can only say that Ipswich doesn't use the same track for both sports,  so has different fencing.

Looking at other photos of the track as well the concrete stock car fence has narrowed the track up get a wooden fence on the straights with a small gap between the concrete and the wood fence and a foam or air fence on the bends will the white line have to be move in ? the track as it is looks really narrow
