Just out of interest, do you know if he was one of the 2 riders that were signing for Plymouth before the U turn when Klindt became available?

I don't think so more likely to have been covatti until it became apparent he needed more surgery to his arm.

Very good rider on his day, didn't he win the top flight with Peterborough whilst riding at number 1?

I remember seeing him at Newport when he first came over with Scunny and he looked the business then, I remember saying he'd be better than Jorgensen who I think came over the same season.

Could of gone a lot further if not for injuries. Would still do a job for any side if he stayed fit.

Very unlucky with injuries, remember his wife spannering for him a few years back. Still a good rider, can't believe he will start the season without a team, unless he has retired.

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest, if there's a low points limit, then there's always a chance a heat leader will be left without a team spot.

Just asking, if MPT started this year in the Prem on his Prem Average, how long would it take for his Championship Average to become a converted Prem Average.
I think his Prem is 4.8 ish & Champ 7.8 ish but a converted prem to Champ is 6.8ish. May be more attractive depending when the conversion kicks in.
I know it’s not explained the best but I hope you get what I am implying 🙈

His 2024 Champ average would apply for all of the 2025 Champ season...

As soon as MPT got a new Prem average he'd definitely sign for a Champ side on his new converted figure. It may even be sooner than that, it could be ride ONE match & he uses his converted ave.

Then as soon as he rode for a Champ side, his converted ave would change back to his rolling Champ ave.

Won the Peter Craven in 2022....very capable rider, victim of the trendy names currently.

unfortunately he gets injured too often and when he comes back hes not the rider he was pre injury each time

its a shame because at his best he was a very capable rider but those days are long gone imo

If you look at MPT's Championship averages alone, you couldn't say he's "well past his best" at this level.

Before 2017 never averaged above 7.00.

2018 - 7.96

2019 - 8.18

2021 - 7.32

2022 - 6.76

2023 - 7.01

2024 - 7.80

I think because he can be inconsistent, people make out he's worse than he actually is.

Granted in the Premiership his scores have certainly fallen, even allowing for the fact it was a far weaker league when he averaged 7+ in the Prem.

Also people tend to judge riders on their home average [it is where people see them most] and MPT's away average was a point higher than his home average last season.

Don't know where you got that stat from, everything I see shows MPT was stronger at home not away?
