Jamie westacott

Yet another one of those 15 year old riders tipped for greatness but went on to do nothing.

hes been known as a scumbag around Newport for some time now. Well before his days in speedway.

not as bad as Garrity but another with no brains and a drug addiction. Mental to think he was under Phil Morris' wing.

I knew the Mavericks team manager Pete Towersey well, and always sat with him at Wasps meetings, he had problems with Jamie Westacott's attitude to turning up regularly, inspite of others giving him as much support and help as possible, as witnessed below .

Towersey is still waiting to hear from the rider although he has spoken to his upset father Fred.

Towersey said: "Speedway is a team sport and this is just not acceptable - but until we hear from him we cannot make a judgement. I have tried to contact him but he is not answering his telephone."

Westacott senior said: "I don't know what is going to happen but I have a feeling there could soon be speedway bikes and equipment for sale. I am very disappointed after all the work which has been done for him.

"I would imagine that if he does get in touch with Newport then it may be too late. This could be the end. After this, I cannot see Tim Stone (promoter at Newport) wanting him back.

He had some natural talent, but unfortunately a poor attitude

READING Racers reserve Jamie Westacott scored three points from two rides in Sunday's New Year Classic at his local track at Newport.

The Welsh teenager started as the meeting reserve and ended up taking the final two rides for Josh Larsen after the American was forced to pull out of the meeting with bike problems.

Westacott, whose future with Racers remains uncertain, passed Newport's Kristian Lund to earn a good third place in heat 10, and three heats later made a great start before finishing second to Neils-Kristen Iversen after holding off the more experienced Neil Collins and Robbie Kessler.

The meeting was won by Coventry's Chris Harris, who beat Iversen, Stuart Robson and David Howe in the final.

Blummin eck, I was even there for that NYC meeting and still don't remember the guy... he's taking up far too much space on this forum for such a non entity 😂

I liked Jamie well enough as I knew him in his mid teenage years and he was a tidy enough rider at NL level. With Phil Morris in his corner he could have and should have gone on to be a decent PL rider.

However at times he would just disappear despite being given several chances to put things right by Tim Stone and Pete Towersey.

He was well known as somebody not to cross in the rougher area of Newport I was told by quite a few people and most certainly in the Mallet era stopped the local thugs from raiding the Speedway stadium on at least one occasion

A shame he's ended up where he is today but we all have choices to make in life and some seem pulled towards making all the wrong ones.
