I assumed it was double his finishing Championship he attained at Oxford last season? Which only makes it 6.9ish The NL average is always used. It’s only Championship x2 if there is no NL average (hence why Roynon returned to the NL on a 6.00 at Edinburgh). Unless of course, that’s also changed this winter but not been made public knowledge! He could maybe take the opportunity of the NDL to improve and then move up a league where he would have earned the right to be paid more! End of the day, he's a young kid learning his trade but it still needs to be cost effective to do so. He may have found his other job to be better for him and has chosen that instead of losing money in speedway.

szkocjasid
Anyone notice that the Scunthorpe fb page has all the news about the signings for the combined NDL team, but there's nothing on the Sheffield fb page?

Think the team is pretty much run by Godfrey and Simon Lambert from Scunthorpe. Sheffield don't seem to have much input other than using the track for a few of the home matches.

That's probably true, but for Sheffield's perspective, should they not act more "involved" even something as simple as sharing the posts from the Scunthorpe page with a heading as simple as "Development league news"? szkocjasid
A couple of thoughts about comments from Simon Lambert about the Scunthorpe NDL team (I'll ignore Sheffield as they seem to be ignoring the team so far lol). http://scunthorpe-speedway.com/?p=18241 “We were let down by Vinnie Foord, who agreed to ride for us. Once you’ve done a deal with a rider, you don’t expect them to change their mind, but Vinnie did, which was disappointing" David Norris then replied on the post with "Apologies Simon Lambert regarding Vinnie Foord Please let it known it wasn't Vinnies fault, he just wants to ride speedway bikes, but it was my call as he already had other commitments" I'm gonna have to disagree with Norris here, wether he's Vinnie's manager or advisor or whatever, ultimately it's Vinnie's choice if he signs for Scunthorpe whether Norris agreed with it or not? Foord has the right to change his mind, but if he's made that decision, don't think Norris should take them blame, he can advise him all he likes, but Vinnie's gotta decide what's best for him. Lambert then says: “Another rider we were very much considering was Harry Fletcher, but we ended up with a side where we didn’t need a third rider on a 3.00 average.” So while they didn't need a third 3.00 rider, doesn't mean they couldn't have built a team a couple of points under the limit? I guess they want to build a team that can be competitive, while still developing riders?

It feels harsh on Smith & Fletcher to be left without a ride just because of a change of heart by Foord and/or Norris.

Fozzie4388
Whats Jack Smith's average out of interest? As no doubt will need a replacement for Roynon after the first meeting

That is a really good point. Jack Smith could easily put out a similar post calling out Simon Lambert.
