It was a toss up between Sheffthorpe or Scuntffield. Just felt Scuntffield was most appropriate.

As was said last year, the naming of the joint team thread is awful & just shows your dissent towards Scunthorpe.

A more appropriate topic name would be Scunfield.

I like it. Besides, it's only a bit of fun.

Surely you're not ashamed of the fact that your very own home town is the only one in the UK with that special 4 letter word contained within?

Jason Garrad and Declan Killeen on the way to EWR? Nathan Ablitt and Jason Garrad would be a powerful top 2 at this level and I can see Declan being a Scunthorpe type signing for some reason if he rides in the UK. I'm also a bit confused why yous haven't signed Luke Harrison? Will give him much needed extra track time and he will walk the NDL, so would be a good confidence booster for him, always liked his style and would love to see him pushing for a RS spot in the Premiership in 2026.

I'd be surprised if Scunthorpe preferred Garrad to Harrison?

With Harrison starting in the top 5, think Development league racing would suit him, giving him extra rides, as he'll likely get less races now no longer at reserve, at least at the start of the season.

His dad confirmed on here as few weeks back, granted things may have changed, that he didn't have an NDL place for next season. Which is what baffles me. Presumably if scunthorpe planned on using him he'd have been selected already.

to cut out any speculation on the subject Luke was asked at the last meeting of this season if he wanted to return. We felt that a different track would of benefitted him in his progress with oxford ,Leicester or redcar being the preferred options sadly none could fit him in thus leaving him without a space. This was a family decision and was fully discussed with Simon and Rob at Scunthorpe who were both supportive of the decision.

That's fair enough. It's not the non inclusion in the scunthorpe team that's baffled me it's the non inclusion in any of the 11 teams at this level. Fingers crossed someone comes calling.

Can definitely see these 3 racing/returning for the combo team, Smith taking a full time role after replacing Ablitt early doors last season:
Mickie Simpson
Jack Smith
Jamie Etherington

Loosing both Pjiper’s and possibly Harrison and Ablitt (unless he wants to travel north for NDL only) as well means a few new faces.  Could likes of Foord ride in NDL after taking a spot in NDT team?
Hopefully the remaining 4 are a mix of experience and a few new young un’s getting their first experience of NDL racing

Adam Roynon 8.84
Luke Harrison 7.66
Remaining 6.18
Luke Muff 4.83
Mickie Simpson 4.49
Jamie Etherington 3.00
Harrison Rogers 3.00
Total 38.00

Options for the last spot? Luke Crang, Sam McGurk, Alex Spooner, Elliott Kelly or maybe bring back Kean Dicken?

What's the ruling behind Roynons average? I assumed it was double his finishing Championship he attained at Oxford last season? Which only makes it 6.9ish

I'm just going by what I read on Twitter, which said they had 6.18 available. But as he has a NL average from 2023, assumed they'll use that?

8.84 is Adam's 2023 average but I should have thought it would be his 2024 Championship average x 2.

I had a conversation with Elliot Kelly at the comets match at redcar last season. He said he has no plans to return to speedway at the moment due to a cap on wages. Whether that has changed or not, I do not know.

Shame really as he was a good rider when he wasn't on his arse.

That’s an interesting view for him to take. He could maybe take the opportunity of the NDL to improve and then move up a league where he would have earned the right to be paid more!
