I was sitting here stunned that people have Sheffield so low down, so I thought about it a bit & I think I agree.

Yes they have a top 3 that can comfortably be 8>9 average riders. To achieve that they'd need to be scoring 30>35 week in week out & that's an ask for any team. I do struggle to see how they score 16>21 points from Pickering & basically 3 'Rising Stars'.

Sheffield could really suffer an OUCH season.

I've said, it's vital to have a strong top 2 but Sheffield have tried to add a 3rd & given themselves one of the worst tails possible.

So right now, yep, I'll put them 5th

1. Ipswich

2. Belle Vue

3. King's Lynn

4. Oxford

5. Sheffield

6. Leicester

7. Birmingham

Surely if the top 3 score between 30 and 35 each meeting, the bottom 3 only have to score between 11 and 16 a meeting to get a result.

Not going to win many bonus points and when it comes to play/offs going to be weak that's if they make it ???

As AceBelle says, it's not just about a result, a top team has to be around 50+ at home.

Away from home there's no chance of the top 3 scoring 30+.

Sheffield would have been far far better leaving out a Holder or Woffinden & making sure Rowe was at No6.

I think they could be in real trouble

Ipswich

Belle Vue

Kings Lynn

Leicester

Sheffield

Oxford

Birmingham

I'm confident on the top 2 and I think if Lynn build some momentum, then they will win most of their home matches and surprise a couple of teams on the road,  Unless Oxford pull a big signing out of the bag, I think they are a HL short of being a threat and will be battling Brum to avoid the wooden spoon.  Of course throw an injury or two into the mix, a missed flight and a fall out with a promoter and this prediction will be turned on it's head I'm sure!

I do think sheffield will struggle as the maximum they can hope for each meeting is the top 4 all score maximums and thats only 49 points.. obviously they not all going to go unbeaten so a minor blip they drop a point each its 45 points... well averages say they will score 35 points... not sure were they will get enough points from the bottom 3 to win enough meetings and bonus points

To get the top 3 scoring 30/35 points per meeting means that they will each average around 10 from four rides, with additional points coming from whatever happens in heat 15.
To put that target it into perspective, the three riders with the highest averages last season in the Premiership when totaled was a tad over 28 points  per meeting and with the best will in the world it is hard to imagine the Tigers top 3 being higher than that number.
Tigers more than likely to have a good home season  (but not 100%) and will struggle on the road due to their bottom four lacking real scoring power - They will get a few aggregate bonus points however and should just about scrape into the play-offs.

I didn't think they would score 30-35,I was quoting another post.

With Sheffield, I make it the  big 3 only rode together 6 times at home in the league and cup in 24.

Scoring 33, 33, 37, 32, 34, 35 between them. Picko averaged 6.8 at home last season that would leave the other 3 to score 10 between them to hit 50. That will give them a chance of Agg points. Not sure how Woofy will go after his injury though.

It is difficult to predict where teams will finished when you don't know all of the teams full line ups.

So going on the rumoured line ups and those that have fully announced.

Top 4 (In no particular order)

Belle Vue

Ipswich

Kings Lynn

Sheffield

5th and 6th (in no particular order)

Leicester

Birmingham

Wood Spoon
