Grand Prix Ticket Sales

To put it into context I’m at the Le Mans 24 hours the same weekend as Belle Vue and a general admission week ticket for that event is £129. Those prices released today for Speedway GP are ridiculous.

Sheffield are, rather cheekily, plugging their season tickets as 12 meetings costing less than 2 meetings elsewhere 👏😂

Great plenty of room for me and three others with me

Usually have you on ignore but your point is greatly accepted.

You shouldn't ignore me, you're missing out on some great content lol

Everybody will have their own price limits I suppose, personally I can't justify anything other than a South Stand ticket and that's quite a mental stretch. I don't think you'll have too much trouble in securing a main stand ticket. Let's hope it's a cracker 🙏

6 figure sum to hire Cardiff stadium so they are well in pocket by not going there 🤔

Based on the justification they gave for the SON prices last year it was £400k to put the event on at Belle Vue. I'm sure there's some savings reducing to 2 nights but it's still not going to be cheap.

Sadly, my price predictions were pretty much spot on when they announced this but I still think they'll sell out. Unfortunately, they're going to annoy a lot of supporters in the process.

You were shifting in the region of 30,000 tickets for Cardiff so the thinking will now be that at least a quarter of them would pay "premium" prices.

16000(ish) over 2 nights at an average of £90 a ticket is just over £1.4m.

I wonder who is underwriting this if they have got it wrong?

Even IF they do sell out- people will have less disposable income for other speedway events/merch etc and the prices for children is ridiculous- we want to be encouraging families/children to speedway for the long term health of the sport!

Absolutely agree. I was in no way defending the prices. I thinks it's a joke.

The discrepancy between the seating and standing tickets is what surprises me, having been to BV many times and viewed from both the North and South stand, I actually prefer the South standing. So £69 is borderline just about acceptable to go on the Friday night.

Is it a case of profiteering or is this the hard facts of the prices how expensive the sport is to run, who knows?! But it will most likely sell out first time around. Not sure about the longevity of the event at those prices however.

The one positive for me is if you just do one meeting I can travel there and back in a day, which isn't possible with Cardiff.

Loads of cheap hotels outside the city though.

Profiteering and probably still paying off the stand from last year!

The NSS is supposed to be the jewel in the crown for British Speedway but the more times I visit the more I feel it is a massive case of the emperor's new clothes. Parking is chaos once the carparks are full and the marshals are on the gate for access but not to manage how people actually park in the school playground. They need to go and watch the Workington parking marshals, Northside looks like a work of art once they are finished. I accept that we shouldn't take food in because the fast food outlets expect to make a living from serving up those atrocious burgers. But the food and drink outlets are generally poor and the queues are long. Something has to give. Maybe a 'corkage fee' of a quid to take your own picnic in? I also really resent not being able to take a drinks bottle of water in. Surely in this day and age we should not be buying bottles of water unless it's a preference?

Moaning aside, it is possible to get there by public transport especially if you don't mind parking up further afield. We've started using a parking space app and hopped on a bus. More expensive than a space at the stadium but the stress was zero.

Without knowing the staging costs you can't be certain of that.

Surely the staging costs are minimal compared with Cardiff... The cost to hire a 60k stadium for a week, plus the cost of equipment hire, shale and manpower to build a track is way more than a temporary stand for 2 nights.

This event is going to be total rubbish. Ticket prices joke. Hotel prices joke. This is a speedway grand prix not charles wright beating a load of second division riders to win a so called british final. If anybody is stupid enough to pay this sort of money best of look to you. I pay less in six months for tnt sports than belle vue want for one night

Exactly 👍 some fans can't understand that it's a six figure sum to hire Cardiff stadium for the GP 🙈
