Is there a point to heat 15?

Heat 15 is more often than not, just a repeat of heat 13, and staging the fifteenth heat with nominated riders, undeniably gives a big advantage to the top heavy teams over those who have more evenly balanced sides.

So I'm informed, Promoters in general want meetings to finish with a race between each team's best two riders - so surely the answer would be to scrap heat 15 and then reverse heats 13 and 14 so that the final race still theoretically features the four best riders of the evening, and by doing so, does away with this unfair advantage - and saves promoters' a bit of cash as well?

..... and saves 20 mins on the running time of the meeting.

So if heat 13 is a cracker you definitely don’t want to repeat it !

so replace it with a two man race ?

You think a promoter wants to save a few quid but actually lose it because fans don’t want a reduction in proper four rider races and even more will turn their backs on the sport.

How about riders in heat 15 being nominated by opposing team managers? Could end up being a repeat of heat 2, but league speedway is supposed to be a team sport and it might encourage more balanced team building with strength in depth. Before anyone asks, no, I haven’t thought this through!

My thoughts for the Superheat.

I like the current format. I don't have a problem with H15 being a re-run of H13. But I do hate it when there is a "super-heat" and the same riders can be chosen as H15. Wouldn't it give team managers something to think about if your H15 choices couldn't be used in a subsequent super-heat? Wouldn't it be great - for the riders, and the fans - if 2 of their weaker riders were given the chance to get the glory?

I've thought this since day 1 and this should really be the discussion of this topic. Heat 15 is what it is, it's nominated, heat 13 isn't always guaranteed to be the "best" heat of the night, especially if your number 1 or 5 is having a bad night or gets injured, so leave that alone. The super heat should not involve any riders that have appeared in heat 15 imo, makes it more of a team result.

As an Ipswich fan with the best top 2 in the league I like the idea of the superheat being 2 didn’t riders to heat 15 which might sound strange as Ipswich are almost nailed on for any superheat but I agree it would add a bit of spice

Let’s say (somehow) Kings Lynn are 4 points up against Ipswich going into heat 15 …. I would bank on Jason and Emil to get two 5-1’s
