Oxford Cheetahs 2025

Recommended Posts

An exciting line-up with some surprises. I can see thee Cheetahs having two 5pt + reserves by mid-season (most likely Killeen and Knudsen).

It does beg the question what now for Scott (Nicholls) and Scott (Jody).

Despite Scott's comments, I don't think we'll see him on a bike again.

Bound to have second thoughts at some stage during the recovery process considering his age plus he's got his punditry work with Discovery so it's not like he'd be leaving Speedway entirely.

Be interesting to see what happens when Scott is fit again. Although there is always Plymouth. They always seem to need a no1 and fits the bill.

This team does not look great but time will tell, a bit lacking in the heat leader department, don't see Heeps as a heat leader and Knudsen has always been inconsistent, have to see how it is when Scott Nicholls returns which I am sure will happen.

I can see Nicholls slotting in nicely as part of a double change if things don’t go as planned.

The reserves are both exciting prospects, Masters is one of the top three riders in the league and I think Jenkins will keep improving.

It will be interesting to see if Heeps can be as successful as he was last season, Knudsen has been nothing short of a disappointment in the last couple of seasons at Berwick and Redcar after a promising start but he has plenty promise, Gilkes is pretty meh for me but plenty people seem to rate him so I’ll maybe be proven wrong on that one.

Knudsen is a big gamble as he was abysmal for Redcar last season apart from 1 meeting. He even claimed Redcar was his favourite track.

He also disappointed at Berwick.Won a couple of races when Berwick were at Oxford though.Jamie with the Berwick connection maybe thinks he will improve.Look decent at times.

If Oxford can't find a top rider to replace Nicholls, how about a solid team with strong reserves instead?

Sam Masters 9.15
Cameron Heeps 6.37
Jordan Jenkins 6.21
Dan Gilkes 5.08
Nathan Ablitt 4.91
Jacob Hook 4.19
Luke Killeen 3.85
Total 39.76

Well the team isn't too dissimilar from my suggestion of a strength in depth team, Knudsen rather than Ablitt & McDiarmid rather than Hook.

This final 7 riders has to be a bit of a joke surely!!! As a neutral i dont like to criticise teams normallybut i have to say apart from Sam Masters this Oxford team is going to get battered away from home and as a floating fan, when Oxford come to town i for one will not be going anywhere near their away fixtures.Just dreadful.

Until all the teams are declared it's not easy to judge. You could make the same comment about Scunthorpe and Workington, and probably others once all teams are in place.

A number of the Oxford riders could well see substantial increases in their averages this year.

Same level as Zischke?

If he hits the ground running could be the second heat leader.

Would be a bit worried having Heeps at 5...

Not yet, but probably is better when you adjust for age and experience [he averaged more than Gilkes,Flint and Rowe in the Polish under 24 league, and all are at LEAST five years older]

Much depends on how he adjusts to British tracks even Zischke had trouble at some.

Yes they are absolutely huge compared to the original track at Pinjar Park 😉
