But don't Oxford own their stadium, whereas Poole have to pay extortionate rent to a rogue landlord every time that they want to put a meeting on. If there was a justified business case to run an NDL team then I'm sure they would.

Who says it's extortionate, probably the going rate for such a facility.

No chance actually in Poole but there is an existing small track (Colesseum like) Matcham Raceway out Ringwood way, with development potential. I think the idea has legs, for a community stroke fan led facility.

Big problem with Matcham`s is no public transport and poor road accses.

Now my post wasn't a fully researched resolved proposal, more a suggestion that there might be an alternative. But there is a more serious point, as it is something that Poole Pirates fans should be considering NOW before Wimborne Road becomes unavailable and another speedway club disappears into the ether.

Poole have known about the "question marks" around their stadium for years and like many other tracks before them appear to have done diddly squat in seeking a long term sustainable replacement. When the inevitable happens the usual levers will be pulled, petitions, action groups, council backing, planning meetings, appeals etc. And all the Pirate fans will have to wait for years before these things are sorted out... if they ever are.

Clubs (all clubs that rent their stadiums) should be pro-active in preempting their inevitable eviction and be seeking alternative sustainable sites to run Speedway.

Yes fans get told all sorts of lies but then the reality is their club is closed and there seems no hope in a return. Oxford is the only recent positive that a club can come back after years away.  In my opinion if Poole cannot stay where they are then it will close, it is just not viable in todays world.

How do you know that the Poole promotion have not been proactive in looking at new and old sites?

Did hear yesterday that a site at Holton Heath, which is not a million miles away from Poole is an option being looked at

Yes, I would be surprised if other areas not being looked at as they don't seem the type of people to just sit around and do nothing when long term future is not guaranteed.

I don't for sure, that's why I said "appear"... I'm just going by the lack of proactivity by all other Speedway clubs with the exception of Belle Vue. And with the club still up for sale? (I haven't heard otherwise) where is the incentive for the current promotion to look for another base?
