Sky by a mile -  we need to attract them back somehow and potentially rescue the sport.

It would be worth (alongside a supporting sponsor) PAYING Sky sport to cover UK speedway and get back the professional coverage and commentary to help significantly promote the sport.

A little off topic - caught the end of a programme called Shed and Buried(?) this evening with that bloke Henry Cole. He purchased an old Lewis Bridger Jawa, got it going & flogged it to a bloke from Hagon Shocks.

Screensport were great back in the day with Dave Lanning.

"And a why thy droive from the starrrrt!"

Also have to mention that pre-digital era, I used to manually turn my dish a few degrees to the left (North East I think) and pick up Polsat for free.

Along with some,err, Dutch channels..............

The guy who commentated on Screensport and annoyingly always said "And away they droive from the start"  was Clive Fisher. not Dave Lanning.

Used to like Chris French on Screensport.

I saw that. New fuel and it started first time after years sat in a shed?

I had a motorised dish and did the same.

Always watch this prog couldn't believe my eyes, they bought a 'grasser' rolling chassis once, also sold to Hagon Shocks, their bikes / cars almost always start easily after 'just new fuel & maybe a spark plug', the ep is repeated on Quest this Saturday at 9pm, speedway bike part could be 9.30....

Probably, in the background, Sam Lovegrove had rebuilt it and scraped off all the castor oil crud that would likely have been inside!

Well my choice is obviously very biased but it was Sky’s production followed by BT both of whom were very professional and forward thinking with their production with Sky making it HD, Jib cameras, Kerb cams, multiple slow mo’s then BT took over and made it a UHD production

However this came at a cost with each Sky meeting production costing the same as what Eurosport spend for 5 UK meetings.

There simply is no budget for UK racing everything is done using the cheapest option possible for example they use a lot of University students who  are looking for unpaid experience that’s why we get some dodgy camera work and editing, vision mixing .

The Sky production was normally a 15-18  main cameras and 2 slo mo plus 2-3 radio cameras while Eurosport is 4 main cameras plus 1-2 radio camera they don’t even pay the OB provider for lighting for presentation and instead Mr Morris brings his battery flood lights.

Who knows when the contract is up for renewal again Sky may be interested as would now be a good fit for the Sky Sports + channel and is a good filler when no Football

I was involved in a shoot one season at Arlington with Adam Shields, Lee Richardson, Ed Kennett and Lewis Bridger.

Great day and had some fun, at the end they asked if anyone had any ideas and I came forward with putting the camera on the track with the 4 riders doing a start with the shale flying over the camera and riders disappearing into the distance, a clip they used until they stopped their involvement.

My claim to fame lol

Nothing will ever top Sky Sports, that was truly iconic. BT was a pretty close second early on. After that, only the Polish stuff really comes close.

BSN is OK but commentators are a bit naff, as are some of the presenters, better than nothing though.

Did SKY and BT Sport not use the same production company for the broadcast? I seem to remember that Steve Saint was involved and a Northern Irish guy called Keith (?) did the graphics. Steve Saint now runs his own company called Saint Media
