Hope Tolley doesn't let his heart rule his head & go bankrupt. While it's not the job of others clubs to keep Birmingham competitive, surely they know there's a very good chance it'll soon be a 6 team Premiership, is that what they want? Re Brennan if a club doesn't want to use their own asset isn't his current team supposed to have "first refusal" on him? The issue here is the sport simply isn’t popular enough. We have had 40 years of the product being watered down in terms of lowering points limits to try & even things out however that has been totally unsuccessful in halting the decline in attendance figures or the number of tracks operating. Granted some tracks have been lost to housing but that’s not the case for the vast majority. The only way to save this sport is a proper plan & a rebirth, it needs to become more popular to survive.

Only last year when injuries cost us the title we had six during the season if you also include our No8. The Aces and the Brummies (with two junior sides) have a clear program of British youth development. Ipswich do not thought I do applaud your team that will feature five Brits this coming season, well done. Raising this as a point scoring attempt has failed spectacularly, again well done.

I'm in my 40's and I have been to more British defunct tracks than tracks which are still open. Of those considering the crowds I'm certain Cradley & Coventry were profitable. In the 70's & early 80's - British Speedways glory years riders didn't have much of an alternative income.... tracks could stage meetings any night they wished. So there were more teams & more fixtures which generates more interest & more fans.

It has been a clear and obvious decline... Which, given the constructively critical feedback (from passionate fans), that the promoters have been given over the past 20 years or so, is even more frustrating., However, the patient isn't quite dead yet... It actually won't ever die for me, given the success of the sport elsewhere, and the fact that when the UK does it right, eg the PCMM, a very healthy crowd can be delivered... League racing? In it's current guise it is "Donald Ducked" if you take virtually one track a year going to the wall for the past fifteen years or so, as a barometer.. But, put on a "proper event" eg SON, PCMM, and the crowds do turn up in quite considerable numbers..

PotteringAround
Hope Birmingham can get a competitive team, but the latest press release doesn't give much confidence. "We were planning on building a team around Tom Brennan" didn't exactly sound very promising, but having lost Brennan it's hard to see where they go next. I'm dreading the next press release of "We are building around the twin spearhead of Steve Worrall and Wiktor Lampart"

MP78
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Brum did sign Laguta... Yes it would be a massive gamble, but you've got to believe that Lindgren is off the table, so what other possible marquee signings are there?
