Lions v Aces POF 2nd leg

Recommended Posts

According to Met forecast heavy rain today then dry overcast until 3pm tomorrow  then few showers forecast and dry at night ? so track will most likely  be damp at the least? so gating gloves at the ready 🤔 hoping the Aces get over the line :t:

At last! Some common sense prevails

it's only because Leicester track has poor drainage how many meetings gave been called off there in recent years attempts to solve it have failed

It's only because we had a months worth of rain in 24 hours... there's never been a match cancelled at Leicester because of rubble poking through the track :t:

My guess is (sorry to repeat previous) that the drainage itself isn't as much the problem. it's more about being able to empty the sub-track tanks if the vehicles required to be filled with and take away water, and those required to do track maintenance, would need to be driven onto and along a track which is still very soft from the huge amount of recent rain. We wouldn't want a speedway match to be run, with riders having to go either side of a marooned lorry partway along the back straight.

The way the money was raised to finance the building of Beaumont Park may have been questionnable, but it was fully privately-funded and didn't have the benefit of any provision from public funds. While it's true that the land it occupies is owned by the local council, the stadium also had to be fitted into a tight space, with restricted vehicular access around the perimeter, especially to the north where the perimeter is an industrial estate.

Almost every year, work has been carried out over the winter to try to improve the track and drainage. But sometimes you can't overcome the effects of Mother Nature, so this decision is completely reasonable and sensible.

The track must be in a bad way as the forecast tomorrow isn't to bad.  That said it's looking likely to be dry Friday to Sunday which gives them 3 days to get the track ready, Monday is dry apart from a bit of forecasted light rain for an hour or 2 in the morning.  Should be no excuses for Monday.

the difference is that was by builders nothing to do with track staff and it's all sorted like we all can see to great effect !!  where as Leicester's is every year it's being sorted to no effect by your own track staff !!

Personally it works out better for me on Monday and if they can get the track dry then the Lions have a chance. But it's still a big battle to overcome 18pts

I'm sure the management took that into account when they made their decision

I think you have a good chance mate, you are better out of the starts and all it takes is for Fricke and Lawson to pop out in heat 1, get something out of heat 2 and you can get on a roll, your top 4 will all be better than at BV, for us we need to get out the starts better and hope our top 4 can take points off Leicester heat leaders as our reserves and Norick could struggle, we have to avoid last places, as you say difficult but certainly doable.

Forecasts are unreliable especially for more than a day in advance.

I have just looked at the weather forecast for Sunday and Monday and it’s horrendous.
