Looked underwhelming at the time but Stewart Dickson might have made a shrewd move when putting Leicester's 1-7 together.

They've got 6 experienced riders on British tracks who can all hit the ground running.

A couple of other clubs will be relying on newcomers / returning riders to get it right from the get go and like we saw with Janowski in 2024 it can take a long time to get back into the groove on our tracks.

True...but by the time the play offs come along, all the other clubs will be up to speed and besides that,  they certainly wont be able to match Ipswich ! (obviously, depending on injuries etc...)

It's a football nickname (coined by Brian Clough I think) for a player who goes to pieces in the box.   Doesn't really work in speedway as no one is "in the box" to make the joke work.

Can’t recall Cloughie using that term, but I get it and it is funny 🤣. That’s got me wondering what Cloughie would have been like as a speedway team manager. I can see him walking around the pits in that green sweatshirt wagging his finger at under performing riders and of course in front of the referee’s box!

It was actually aimed at his goalkeeper Mark Crossley, about when the ball went into the penalty area...

Max Fricke, known as Jigsaw because he goes to pieces in the play offs... 😉

It’s a stretch to say he goes to pieces in the play offs but then BSF lore dictates you’re only as good as your last meeting.

Paid 27 in the semi v Ipswich was decent imo. Sheffield would give their right arm to have had that kind of scoring in the PO semi.

2022, the injury jinx struck him. 20 points in the 2018 semi wasn’t to shabby when we were down to just 4 fit Aces.  He top scored in the 1st leg in 2017 before missing the 2nd leg through injury, costing us the tie due to our usual play off injury jinx. He was second top scorer in the home leg of the final during the 2016 “ringer” year but was poor in the gate ‘n’ go 1st leg, as were the rest. He did well as a second string during the infamous gogglegate final in 2015.

As I was absent from speedway for a while and missed the controversy at the time, can someone please explain why Woffinden is considered a 'ringer' in 2016 despite riding in a fair number of league matches in August/September, but Lambert wasn't in 2022 when he only rode in the playoff matches ?

Not trying to start a war, just curious.
