I'd like to think you are right but, I'm becoming less optimistic about getting a big hitter at 5. More than two points needs to be shaved off last year's team average total and reading all the forum posts, I'm starting to accept that Howarth could be just be a swap for Lawson or Douglas.

If that's the case then we need Becker to ride to his potential, if he does then that might be the difference.

If I was a Leicester fan, wouldn't be particularly excited about singing Howarth. Feel he's been on the slide the last could of years.

BUT I'm pleased a Brit has got a team spot & his last spell at Leicester was probably the best of his career, so maybe this move can rekindle that?

i would not be excited either, have you heard him sing?

Im pretty convinced from what TTT posted a while back about the team being Fricke, Howarth, Masters, Becker, Douglas and someone like Cookie at 6. Just cannot see Dickson going for a big hitter at 5. I still think the team is good though. Just doesn't have the balance and excitement I was hoping for. Atleast it's a side full of riders that we can rely on to turn up week in week out and not do a runner to Poland.

I'm just guessing so take it with a pinch of salt.

But I'm just trying to use as much logic as possible in regards to what Stewart likes (Continuity and British based riders) Taking the Lawson to KL rumour into account and that was the 7 riders I was left with.

My logic for each rider was this.

Fricke (Club Captain and Fans rider of the season)

Howarth (Common knowledge that he's signed)

Douglas (Stay at a stable club or roll the dice with BIR knowing they could go under mid-season)

Becker (Well in with the managment like Danny King is at Ipswich)

Masters (Stewart's rider of the season so he'll want Sam back)

Cook (Sedgmen or Kerr wouldn't fit if the top 5 is correct)

Hagon (Already confirmed)

Massive mistake dropping Lawson, he had a very good season for Leicester.

Difficult decision to make for them I’d assume but needs must. They are worst hit unbelievably in having to shed points. Over two points over so Howarth for Lawson seems the stand out option to sneak back in under the limit. It does make them look a bit unremarkable though. They’ll have their work cut out making the top four with that team IMO.

I would consider making a couple of other changes before I dropped Lawson.

Weaker team ...Need a good number 5 to add to Fricke...You could see that this year in the final ...

If Lawson isn't at Leicester it will be through his choice, not for being dropped.

The stronger teams have to change to get back under the points limits so Cook, Ellis, Lawson & Howarth are the type to unfortunately move on to the weaker clubs who can keep their teams intact aside from releasing their weakest to make room for a stronger rider. It’s a system that’s happened for decades.

Becker has only been there for one season! What does he give, to warrant being "well in" with the management? It must be something worth having! Whereas King has been at Ipswich since I was a wee lad, which is a very long time.

Douglas - how ambitious is he, or has he reached his plateau? Is he up to the challenge of quite possibly being a No 1 at BHX even if for only half a season, or has he settled for midrange safety?

Fricke - does being club captain cut much ice these days? Leicester must know by now that he'll possibly get them to the playoffs but unlikely, without someone else in the team who can go and win lots of races on wet tracks, to win them the title.

So it looks like being "same again", and will supporters stick with it?

Looks like being same again with Fricke at No1. Just another play off final ffs.

Re Becker - Managed by the same person who coaches the Owners son Will.

Also Leicester have taken the hit on Becker's Wolverhampton average so may as well stick with him with the hope he will improve this season.

Is that really all it is!? How is that going to play out if Cairns Jr goes and joins Belle Vue or whoever. Greg Hancock making a racing comeback for Leicester?
