Boughen was brought in at no 1 as Kyle Howarth was a massive doubt to make the fixture as his partner is expecting a child . David Howe  Scorpions team manager addressed this after the match in the club house

He stated Tofty was defiantly out and Kyle was less then 50/50 to make the meeting so he asked riders to fill in ,certain riders were cup tied as they had ridden for other clubs in the play offs , riders wanted to much money and other riders turned down the booking so by having Ashton in the team they would always have a minimum of six riders and a R/R facility to take on Poole .
Kyle did make the fixture and yes Ashton was a little out of his depth but was brave enough to take the booking  and thank you for doing that . It didn’t matter what side we had our Poole were too strong for us and were class on the night .no hard feelings to any riders from Scunny as it was a tough gig and a meeting to far. What we do get at Scunny is top class racing and that’s why  I go following Hull Vikings demise about 18 yrs ago  .Support speedway or we won’t have Speedway in a few years

Rant over well done Poole and let’s see what next season brings as I’ve got knowledge of the Scorpions side for next year and it’s a fact we will be a top 4 side again  . Plus watching speedway in September when some clubs finished there season  6 weeks ago

Scunny were reminiscent of the Comets in the 2nd leg of the playoff semi final against the Pirates. We never really got going either but this is what the Poole top 4 have done to teams all season. The Poole reserves didn't do much but it didn't matter because the top 4 were so dominant and very rarely have Lawson, Brennan or the Cook brothers had a bad day at the office this season.

Team building at its best!!😇

I wonder if Ben will ride Wednesday, if he's feeling ok, it's an ideal meeting to come back for, not too much pressure. Would be better than coming straight into the playoff final on Saturday

Obviously depends if he got clearance

I would tend to take the opposite view, why rush him back in a dead rubber essentially, let him get fit for the play off final

Well well , Poole strike lucky again, visiting a side clearly depleted by an unfortunate chain of events. Poole must have been under a flock of seagulls and got heavily coated in the stuff the amount of luck that has landed on them. Must have dented Scunthorpe morale from Heat 1 when their stand in No.1 fell. He later scored sod all, hardly a number 1 contribution. With hindsight (always a precious commodity) R/R must have been the correct call.

Walk in the park on Wednesday ....  weather permitting. Scunthorpe I guess will use R/R.

Then onto a pair of meetings against injury hit Oxford. Jenkins out, and now I read Jody Scott is injured. The list goes on... meanwhile with so much rain around and postponements , Poole's only injured rider B. Cook is likely to have recovered in time for both meetings v Oxford. Suspect he will get a try out in the dead rubber on Wednesday.

The risk of another bang on a clearly deeply concussed brain in the timescale since his massive crash the week before last massively massively overrides any possible reward of racing this week, next week, any time this season in my opinion.

How many of the scribes on here (aside from the few ex-speedway riders or possible rugby / motor cycle typs sports competitiors, boxers ) have ever suffered from a concussion.???

I had a mild one playing Rugby in my teens, believe me, it's something I've never forgotten and the affects can be dormant and long term.

He is a decent young man with the best days of his career ahead, far better for him to show up and spectate, take his deserved adulations as a team member and contributor to the respective ultimate trophy wins, and get himself off back home, some rest and relaxation and come back as recovered as he can be next season.

I sincerely hope that is the outcome!

Maybe the medical person that checked him on Friday when he wasnt recovered enough??

Maybe that same medical person said go to the GP on Saturday instead of helping the team mates of the team you are Captain of in their first final of the season?

Would you not hope that the outcome is he's already recovered & 100% ready to finish the season?
