Aries
Must admit my heart skipped a beat when I read the word “fatal” there!! Edited March 31 by Aries
PersonalResponsibility
4 minutes ago, TTT said: As in me or the person that's written the Polish article? Fatal has a different meaning in Poland, and obviously when it's translated it's even more stark. It's probably best to edit your post to avoid any alarm when everyone first reads it. The article/update is quite concerning it has to be said. Hopefully Tai can pull through with 'just' broken bones, but the fact they won't be releasing an update is in itself worrying. Correct foreverblue, I used Google Translate to post the Polish article on here for those that don't follow news from the Polish Speedway sites.
Noelinho
2 minutes ago, TTT said: As in me or the person that's written the Polish article? The polish article yesterday used the word "fatalny", which doesn't necessarily translate to "fatal" in English. That's where the alarm came from. People always need to be careful with translation, and I think Polish is quite tricky to accurately translate.
Fromafar
29 minutes ago, Tinker said: Beat me to it Steve. British Speedway takes a fair amount of criticism including the state/condition of certain tracks etc but as you say, most of the bad accidents happen in Poland. Chasing the dollar and under pressure to perform on big fast tracks. Also seem to be a lot of inexperienced young riders on rocket ships too eager to mix it. Think a lot of inexperienced young riders on rocket ships is big factor in a lot of bad crashes in Poland.Unfortunately.
TTT
I've now edited the article, Let me know if you want me to adjust anymore of it as I'm more than happy to do so. Also I wouldn't recommend anyone to use Google Translate when keeping an eye on Tai's recovery as it's clearly not a good app and it could leave fans fearing the worst. Perhaps you should have re-read you post as well...which is considerably shorter. Stop having a go @TTT, he posted an update (which perhaps he should have read, although it's pretty obvious it's a translation issue), he's now edited it and has been very courteous about it, which is more than can be said of you! 19

But it's not my fault that Google Translate is a rubbish app that doesn't produce an accurate Polish to English translation.
LagutaRacingFan
The good news is that this doesn't appear to be as serious as Ward's tragic accident. I remember that fateful evening, we were told immediately by Polish media that Ward had lost feeling in his legs, and my heart sank. Thankfully, this doesn't appear to be the case with Woffinden. PersonalResponsibility
There's a further 'update' on Sportowefakty.wp.pl. https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/1180927/mamy-najnowsze-informacje-po-koszmarnym-wypadku-w-nocy-zawodnik-trafil-na-sale-o Most importantly - if accurate, hopefully - is this: From well-informed sources, we also know about several broken ribs, a fractured elbow in many places, and fractured vertebrae in the spine. Fortunately, the head and spinal cord were not injured.

I find it similar to people who feel the need to declare they aren’t a fan of a certain rider before wishing them well.

He's just trying to manipulate a distasteful pile on instead of realising the obvious. I too was feeling sick to my stomach after reading the translation as I don't understand a word of Polish so I ask for all articles to be translated by Google and those were the words that it produced for me. As a British person, I wasn't to know that some Polish words have different meanings to them, Only someone who speaks fluent Polish and English would know that. After I was made aware, I then altered the article and said that I'd be happy to make any further adjustments if needed.
