Anyone heard anything about Owlerton Stadium?

Apparently Stock Cars have been kicked out with immediate effect due to lack of space, with the stock car pits being taken over by solar panels and their associated storage batteries.

Rumours also that Greyhounds are on borrowed time?   Where does this leave speedway?

Anyone close to the club know anything?

Heard a couple weeks ago a rumour a corporation has bought the stadium and plans to refurbish it, run the speedway team and also greyhound nights

Sadly I did hear that Sheffield stadium had been bought by a massive company.

and I hope I’m wrong but a massive corporate firm ain’t buying a stadium to run dogs and speedway.

but fingers crossed I’m wrong

then you have Julie reading stepping down but then I also heard she’s unwell so that could be the reason for stepping down

I vaguely seem to remember that there is something in the deeds or something that says there has to be a speedway track at the stadium - with it having been built for the purpose. Just remember something about when we closed in the 90’s that they couldn’t do anything to get rid of the track. Could well be wrong though

Means nothing Monmore green was was supposed to only be used as a sports venue.Wont be there much longer.Im afraid greyhound/speedway stadiums will be a thing of the past soon.

And sadly, 99% of the population won't care or give it a passing thought...

No reason for it to be extended, it’ll be a case of replacement or R/R / Guest at reduced average, Sheffield need to use this chance to strengthen bottom order by replacing Woffinden and Hume with Worrall and Sedgman (or Kerr) would take a bit of pressure off Rowe and Flint making two changes

When it's the reduced average rule can't use r/r only a guest.

While it was a terrible injury Woffinden suffered & we all wish him the best, I'm not sure why Sheffield should get the facility extended. Rules are there for a reason & getting a longer facility won't help Tai heal any quicker.

Ben Basso & Lewis Kerr would fit.

Sheffield already have a strong top 3 without Woffy, certainly at home. Could allow them a stronger reserve pairing.

Hopefully Tai will then be fit enough to return in 2026.

Maybe (and I’m just speculating here) that they are having Visa issues and can’t get any more foreign riders in? Isn’t there a rule that limits the number of visa permits a club has?
