You cynic....

Don't you know that they bring in an extra 1000 punters more tham a normal league match..

The same 1000 punters who miss loads of meetings throughout the season as they don't take the "qualifiers" seriously.

What a plan....:D

That's something I've always wondered, yes we can't deny the play-offs get big crowds. But do people stay away from other matches because they no longer decide the title?

Of course if they were no play offs and they were in 4th place with no chance of  winning the title  these 1000 punters were turn up.Ever year this brain  dead logic comes up.

As somebody who squeezed into Brandon to watch the double header league decider vs Hull & Leicester I can attest that pay offs are not needed to completely fill a speedway stadium :)

It is mind blowing that they run week after week, guestfest after guestfest, in front of die hards, who will happily watch any "Barry White" served up...

And then lord the fact that the play offs get "bumper crowds"..:D

This year the top four were named by virtually everyone on here, with maybe Oxford being the fifth contender who may sneak in..

Selling such nonsense must be a difficult gig..

100%....

Look at the Aces crowds during the lead up, and just after the SON,...

The punters money was spent on the "World Class" event, and not the "run of the mill, we will qualify anyway" league matches...

You don't need 1000 punters to turn up "extra"..

Over 12 meetings of the season, you just need less than 100 to NOT give each week a miss...

Which is what clearly happens now..

Lidsey definitely riding within himself this season, and now Poland is over for him you can see a difference in his riding. (Is it his Polish kit he is on as his straight line speed is tremendous)..

On his average I would think the Aces will keep him next season..

His gating ability will be very important at Leicester...

Kurtz must be the rider of the season if the Aces lift the trophy..

A proper throwback captain who fights for every point..

Heat 13 last night was truly an incredible first two turns, with respect given to Jack Holder too who left "just" enough room for Kurtz to get round safely..

Will miss the first leg as still away but will have the red smoke flares packed for Thursday...

"You can't use them"..

"I can't see now"..

"Why are you making so much noise?"..

"I stand there"

"If you want to do that, go to football"....:D

I notice you went viral

you won't want to interact with the likes of us soon :D

And if was a normal season it would two teams as a rule who would have a chance of winning the title  .. Trying to say that crowds would be better when most teams season by may would a difficult gig .

So why would these  turn up if they had no chance of winning the title if say they were in 4th .. At the end of the day under both formats the matches would mean nothing .

Your logic makes no sense at all

Because you can give plenty of meetings a miss knowing your team will qualify for the play offs..

KL, Brum and either Oxford or Leicester, were the clear ones that would miss out..

And after aprrox a month, it was clear Leicester were the ones that would qualify...

Sport needs "jeopardy" to keep interest...

The Aces suffered greatly by running the SON but also clearly qualifying weeks out for the play offs..

And, as we know now, your finishing positions doesn't matter anyway.....:D

A (max 2 times), extra 1000, doesn't cover the loss of punters picking and choosing their meetings during the season..

But, if it does, it will be very, very marginal...

And how still come because they still have a chance of making  the Play Offs ?  Say we have a team that runs away with the title . What are going to sell to the rest of the league once your seasons over by June .

We have the same debate every year . Play offs and used in one or another not only in Poland and Sweden but nearly every other sport in one way or another . They can't all be wrong can they .. but somehow we got a % of speedway fans who  think so

There is only a single reason for pay offs and that is to satisfy the TV companies. The ONLY team sport that is big enough to call the shots to the TV companies is Premier League Football as they know there would be an outcry from the fans if pay offs were to be introduced... just like there is every time they try and introduce a "super league"

What these sports have to weigh up is the benefit of the TV contract... in Speedway's case their "broadcast partners" are probably doing more harm than good to the sport for the pittance they pay for it.

Play offs in the British premiership should only be used for qualification into a European event! Love to see Ipswich witches vs Lublin down at Foxhall. And yes I know, it’ll never work because teams have the same rides in many teams!

I hope this is going to get called off very soon.

it has rained pretty much continuously since Saturday evening and today shows no change, rain all day into the evening.

Agree Rob, rained heavy all day yesterday. Raining now, and the weather forecast seems to get worse by the hour.

The Kings Lynn promotion would have called both meetings off by now - For commercial reasons. 😜
