How can an official remove someone mid match?

When the team was declared, should've been picked up then.

I would agree that this should have been spotted before the start of the meeting.

As far as I understand things Mr Vatcher pointed out the illegal guest, during the meeting, and the home manager replaced him, in his 4th ride, with a reserve. The Team Manager can do this at anytime for a 4th ride under normal circumstances.

And seemingly not 1 forum member noticed either. With all the guest guesswork on the Poole thread it’s amazing Drew slipped through everyone’s net

MPT was announced as back at No1 so unless you were watching Updates you did not know Kemp was riding.Looks like Vatchers was on updates though🤔

Guested for Workington at Poole in the semi final, so not allowed to guest for a different club in the semis / finals.

It's a bit unprofessional that neither Scunthorpe nor the BSPL knew the rules before the match, why was his inclusion permitted?

It's possible no-one would've noticed, but it's one of the changes caused by last years Premiership play-offs "issues".

Is there a general procedure to confirm guests are eligible for league meetings or does the referee just check on the night.

There seems to be no procedure to let teams know a rider has already guested in a semi Final and is ineligible

Well Sheffield ballsed up with Harris as a guest in KO Cup final after announcing he was in the team had to retract it and use R/R instead so mustn’t be any process or procedure to get rubber stamped before announcing a revised team with a guest(s)

Maybe they just hope people on the forum / Facebook will notice & point it out for them?

Not that it should be our job to remind them of the rules they voted for

The onus for ensuring a rider is eligible to guest surely rests with the club engaging him.      The referee gets a list of each team's line-up three days prior to a meeting, and checks to ensure their averages are correct, not if they are cup-tied, which is hardly his business.

If an ineligible rider somehow gets tracked (as with Drew Kemp at Scunny) it'll always be realised at some point, before, during or after the match, and -- if it really matters -- his points deducted and the result amended.

In this case, the points from his three races only marginally change the scoreline, Scunny still win on the night and on aggregate.   Riders' averages aren't affected by a play-off meeting and we can all settle down.

Bad move by Scunny not to check on his eligibility tho.     Might have cost them dearly!

It should be the refs business to confirm eligibility full stop, not just some aspects of eligibility.

However the issue here was Scunny didn't declare Kemp as a guest, they declared Toft as riding and only slipped Kemp in at the last moment.

Maybe last minute change should be checked with a phone call to a Manage Committee member?

Still trying to do the maths, judging by the farce it is.

Not trying to do any maths, Edinburgh lost the semi at Armadale with a poor performance. It would affect the points scored by those in the race where he scored 2 which could arguably be used for payment to these riders

Was expecting a correction to the score on the night to reflect illegal use of Kemp. All quiet - No SCB statement.

Rob Godfrey indicated in the bar after the meeting that he expected Kemp's scores to be deleted from the match result- not that it matters  over the two legs.
