There's no hope of moving the shale with just a couple of rakers on each bend and an ancient tractor with a simple grading contraption on the back. That hasn't changed in years, so doesn't reflect the change in the track or the machines.

Surely someone could put some thought into a grader fitted to a tractor that actually shift the shale back towards the centre/inside of the track - it needs some sort of blade at an angle, at a fixed height.  Get a decent tractor (or two), with a good width of  grader attached, and it/they could get around the track fairly promptly.

Tatum and Louis all talk about the track developing after the first few follow the leader races so the material is purposely left to be flung to the outside of the tracks and graded in place rather than pulled about over the rest of the track.  Once the inside is dead slick you can't pull the material down onto it. They need to grade the tracks more often than every 4 races to stop the build up but it seems that's what everyone wants, or is it?  I remember the Huggy days at Lynn, grading with 2 tractors after every race ....

Just watched Ht 13 again in slo mo from the cameras on bends one and two....

Wow...

Brady Kurtz take a bow...

Fair play to Jack for not fencing him, but my God, Brady rode an amazing bend...

The best captain since Wilkie for me...

Why do the Sheffield track staff allow the dirt to build up against the fence in such a way to make it dangerous? Not difficult to bring it back towards the center.

It’s up to the track curator to decide what happens to the track.

I know this as a fact because I used to track staff at Birmingham and we weren’t allowed to rake from the fence under the curators orders. We were only allowed to pull the dirt from the fence a few inches after the match.

Granted it might be different at other tracks.
Rakers are under the curators orders.

Just catching up on all this.

Aces were the better team. The Tigers took too long to get into the meeting which cost them big time.

Holder(s) both of them cost the team big time.

Jack seemed content to team ride Howarth 3 times. The wrong decision when you have big points to pull back.

Harris of course has a stormer following his efforts on Monday which was defended because he is only a 6 point rider.

The Lions will need to do better next week if they want the crown.

pretty straightforward really, on monday he rode at a circuit which he openly admits he struggles at against a very strong home team

on thursday he rode at a track he is generally much better at against an away team

rocket science it aint

Harris did very well, if you told me before the match he'd score 12, I've had said that's Sheffield into the final

I would agree with that.

Your comment only makes any sense if Mark Lemon knew that Ben Cook was going to get injured in heat 10!

That doesn't make sense.

It was pretty obvious that Mulford would come into heat 11 to replace Blodorn (or could come into heat 12 or 14 to replace Vuolas).

When Cook was injured, it meant Mulford had to ride in heat 14, so there was no need to bring him into 11 or 12.

Had Lemon panicked and put Mulford in heat 9, he'd have ended up taking 4 rides.
