Guy Nicholls has put up the money (reported to be a six figure sum) for a Pump Track* to be built in Kesgrave.

* Ihave to admit, I hadn’t heard that expression - apparently it’s given to what we call BMX tracks, because bike and skateboard riders use a “pumping” motion round the track.

Well the forum has died a death unsurprisingly with little to discuss now all teams are settled.

Have I missed any? These are the ones that all of us Witches of a certain age remember fondly that will probably always instantly remind us of the Speedway if and when it comes on the radio.

It’s amazing how music can invoke memories of things we love in all walks of life whether that be people, sport or incidents in our lives, or sometimes unfortunately remind us of not so good times.

Are there songs other than these that are more personal to people, that will always remind them of Speedway? Maybe a song you always listen to in the car on the way to the track etc

I have vivid memories of the first Speedway meetings I can recall being at, and that includes the music on the annoy at Lynn between races. Two particular songs I can remember hearing were IOU by Freez and Self Control by Laura Branigan, and putting that alongside some riders I can remember means my earliest memories were probably 1983. Can certainly remember Ole Olsen and that was his last season.

Without the music it would have been difficult to know!

I’ve owned bars for over a quarter of a century and the reason they lasted so long was the constant influx of new staff and their musical tastes.

some of the suggestions on here are 50+ years old …. And then people wonder why the new fans aren’t flocking in droves through the turnstiles.

I don't think that we were suggesting that we should still play these tracks we were replying to the post asking us what our memories were of the music we remembered from when we first attended speedway.

Not for the first time the village idiot has jumped in two footed without reading things properly and totally misunderstood what was being asked 🙄 NOBODY has said we should be bringing any of these songs back.
