Ipswich Witches 2025

Recommended Posts

So with 5 riders announced it will be interesting to which combo they go with.

Doyle/ Rew

or

Doyle/ Brennan

Either way it looks like a very tidy team and 2025 could be their year.

If they can get Adam Ellis back to where he was in the first season at Sheffield then they will be really flying.

Maybe the points limit has been changed from 40 to 39 within the last week or so?

A middle order of Brennan, Rew & Ellis wouldn't even fit within a 39 limit.

one thing is for sure, birmingham struggling is causing mass panic across the speedway community, morris dont want birmingham being cannon fodder, so 2 things have happened here

they making brennan stay at birmingham or they now mowered the points limit to help brum which is meaning teams are having to change there line ups last minute freeing up riders to race for brum

Last year it rolled over until Monday and Tuesday too. People reading way too much into this points system. Ipswich are the most professional club in the league and you think they wouldn’t get their points tally right and have to change it in a week? Clever management again by getting people talking about the sport and the club.

You mean like getting a riders average reassessed last minute because he didn’t fit or having a last minute illegal facility granted for a rider who was never going to ride for you that season as he had better offers abroad?

Would also explain the Jack Holder rumours as Sheffield would have to release one of the power three.

Birmingham shouldn't have even bothered coming to tapes, They're just going to fold mid-season anyway because the warning signs are already alarming in regards to an uncompetitive team.

Controversial opinion here but I wouldn't have even had them running the last few years. Surely the money Tolley has lost could have been saved up to focus on bringing back the club in a more safe financial state. Workington managed to build a track out of nothing and the Tolley should have done something similar even if that meant re naming the club or even moving them out of the city. People will disagree with this point but I'd rather see the brummies not run for a number of years if that meant they could be force later down the line.

So we could be at a stage where everyone has to sacrifice planned 1-7's just to ensure that Birmingham struggle to potentially complete one more season of Speedway.

If Birmingham go under mid-season then everyone has made sacrifices for nothing.

Phil Morris should resign if he's pushing for this nonsense, His position would be untenable.

Until the rules are decided at the AGM, any plans could change. So clubs can have a planned 1-7 but doesn't mean they'll get it.

I don't know why so many people suggest Birmingham could go under mid-season? Tolley has lost money each year, but still completes the season & I don't hear of riders not being paid (which you do at other clubs).

Rather than Morris changing rules, for me it would be better if Birmingham said, we can't compete under a 40 points limit, so the rest of the clubs have to choose, do they want a 7 team league (39 limit) or a 6 team league (40 limit). Then go with the majority vote at the AGM!

For Ipswich if their current 1-7 fits under 39, they'd be massive favourites for the league.

As Cradley have found out and Wolves are now finding out, finding the space for a Speedway track in the West Midlands is not easy.

They had to run Premiership because the greyhound stadium leaseholders would only let speedway run on Mondays. Morris/BSPL  gave them some sort of incentive to run in Prem rather than not at all as BSPL wouldn't let them run Championship on Mondays.

He probably means that riders always know they’ll get paid on time. It’s not always the case.

#TwoTierMorris has to resign then considering he's playing favourites in regards to his former club Birmingham.

Pushing for the entire league to make sacrifices for 1 club makes his position untenable imo.

I get what you're saying but if Phil Morris or whoever else is involved simply let Birmingham go to the wall and become another entry on the long list of defunct speedway tracks, a lot of people on this forum would then claim that PM etc had done nothing to help the Brummies and should hang their heads in shame. At least he's being proactive in trying to remedy the situation.

Maybe you should wait for some actual evidence before calling for resignations. So far the sources are 'a couple of people on a forum'.

Better to go with the flow as it keeps the forum ticking over during the long winter break as it keeps the topic of conversation up.

Plus the Birmingham rumour would fall in line with other recent rumours too like Jack Holder potentially leaving Sheffield as well as the potentially re-suffle at Ipswich.
