Ipswich Witches 2025

Recommended Posts

My personal opinion is that the captaincy gets completely overplayed. There’s some influential riders in the pits at Ipswich that won’t be any more or less influential regardless of being captain or not.

It does kind of feel that King is being needlessly criticised here. He’s inconsistent, he loses to people sometimes that you’d hope he wouldn’t. That’s why he’s a 6 pointer and not a 9 pointer. Every team in the league will have those riders also, Ellis is exactly the same. Can be excellent one meeting, absolute guff the next. I’d be happy with Ellis as well by the way.

Absolutely no problem preferring one rider to another, we all have opinions but Gavan is right, some of the criticism is over the top and unnecessary. King follows the club’s social media and no doubt reads the comments. Some of the comments in the last few days will have hurt him, he’s only human.

I've seen some of those replies on X as well.

Disagree on that regarding captain. King gets stressed by it I think and if free of that role may do better. On TV last season when interviewed one time I remember he was not inspiring at all and downbeat about our chances. A great captain can make a huge difference to how a team performs.

Can’t agree, he’s been doing it for donkeys years. If he had any issue with it whatsoever then he’d have told his best mate and he’d have taken it off him.

I’ve heard that about King’s interview a few times now. I think he basically summed up how we were all feeling at the time. It was pretty desperate wasn’t it? Only so many times you can round up the troops before another kick in the nuts can do for the best of us. It was relentless. Himself, Ellis, Dan, Doyle and then Emil hammering the final nail in the coffin. Not sure any amount of cheerleading would have gotten anymore out of the team, it was done, over.

His comments read that everyone wanted to come back, but Dan’s yesterday hinting that no everyone is coming back. Tomorrow will be an interesting one… maybe Doyle, and keep the interest in thinking who is being changed for Monday morning? They never announce over the weekend so it’ll be 6 by Friday. My bet is Ellis makes way for Brennan as he was the latest edition.

It’s the AGM next week, I can’t see them announcing all seven until after that. I could be wrong, but I think they’ll hold at least one back until the completion of the conference just in case something unexpected happens at the 11th hour with the points limit.

Or Brennan isn’t coming.

Chris Adams said Brum have lost out on a couple of riders they were talking to so I assume Brennan is one of them.

Danny riding at 2 or 4 is a fantastic signing … not so much if he is at 3….. can easily see him scoring 6 or 7 at home every week and with a strong top 3 that’s all we need….

Though im sure first meeting of the season lets say home to Belle Vue and he is in heat 1 and gets third behind Doyle and Kurtz that some Ipswich fans will moan about it lol

I'm not sure why they are in such a rush to announce signings before the AGM. Even if you think the points limit is settled, it's not 100%.

By all means I would've announced Sayfutdinov, get everyone excited for the new season, but I probably would've kept quiet about the rest.
