No need to wait, can clear this up now with two examples.

1) Jordan Jenkins finished 2023 on a 4.21 ave, started 2024 at reserve on his reduced 3.16 ave with Keynan Rew in the team on 4.00.

2) Danny King finished 2022 on an 8.26 ave, started 2023 at number five on his reduced 8.05 ave with Erik Riss at number one on 8.24.

Both times a riders' reduced average, was used for team building & his team position. There is no "team building average only".

Ben Cook will start at 1 for the Stars.

And Tom Brennan who finished 2022 on 5.86 and started 2023 at reserve on his reduced 4.40, with Norick Blodorn in the team on his 5.45, even though people wrongly kept telling us that Brennan would be in the main body

Quite agree, the top six are going to be strong at home and apart from Doyle & Emil who stand out I don't think we need to worry about heats 13 & 15 as much as some people think. As you say we saw some strong performances last season especially towards the end.

Away from home might be different but we shall see

Bewley/kurtz just as good if not better :t:

On your last visit, both Lawson and NKI beat Dan twice each i think. Deffo 5-1'd em in HT 15. So not impossible for the Stars to get something from 13 and 15..

Age factor/injuries could catch up, especially Doyle, reckon the pairings will be closer to being the same next year than 2024, just need an injury free season to see.

The last visit was  a dead rubber we had already qualified for play/offs no need to take risks and get injured for play/offs and on other visit won earlier in the season you just have to look what kurtz & Bewley do when it matters in play/offs = Champions 🏆

With regards to whether Ben Cook will start at No. 1 or not, the press release for the team announcement said….

”The top six comes in at fractionally under the 40-point limit, and a unique feature of the side is that the starting averages of each of those six riders are between 6.00 and 7.00. It means Cook will start the season at No.1 on 6.99, whilst Harris will be at reserve on 6.06.”

Trouble with Ben Cook is the away tracks like Ipswich and he was very poor at Oxford even in the championship.

Cook guested for us at Oxford last season and got a pretty solid 9 points from 6 rides riding at No 5.

But that is the risk with 6-7 point riders. By the very nature of their average, they can be inconsistent, especially away.

I don’t think there is a Stars fan I know who is getting overly excited and sensing silverware, but we now have a solid side, full of riders that either have good connections to the club or are popular with fans in their own right (like Harris).

The club has a rebuilding job to do and it won’t happen overnight, but from personally speaking to Rob he’s keen to get the club more competitive than we have been.

Last season, despite all the troubles, we won more matches than both the 2022 & 2023 seasons combined. Though that is sadly probably more a reflection of how poor those sides were.

But they’ve looked at the issues from last season and done the best to mitigate those for 2025.

Ok, it’s not a side built on big names but it’s one I’m certainly looking forward to watching. Judging by the reaction on social media etc, I think the vast majority of Stars fans think the same.

Roll on March.

I remember that well, I was adamant he'd start at reserve, but many didn't believe me.

4th just creep in

agreed that's my thinking don't think leicester will do it again they have got weaker if it's the team we think ? oxford could push Lynn if they get a decent number 1 ? but as it stands it's Lynn for me with Aces/Witches/Tigers

I’d be happy with 4th, as long as we make the playoffs :D even if we get dumped out in the semis, which is probably likely

With so many home track specialists a two leg aggregate match could be ideal....

Looking at Oxford, Leicester and Birmingham currently (if their rumoured teams are true), then KL could definitely get in the Play Offs given their home results should bring a lot of victories...
