Great performance from Ben & Richard but who was the 'Rocketman' in the final ? Take a bow Pickers congratulations πŸ‘

Also good to hear that Masters and Boughen are ok. Sounded like it could've turned out to be a real nasty one.

Should be ban or automatic 14 day ban rule for these riders who pull out.

The only way to punish the mercenaries is to hit them in the pocket.Β
these meetings used to be a big deal especially for the fans who would go and support their number one.Β
Great to see Josh win as it clearly means a lot to him to represent Edinburgh.Β

Thought that was a pretty decent meeting. Well done to Josh as he showed what it takes to get the win . Comets fans should be proud of your man’s performance. Drew kemp kept us in it till the semi so happy with that. On the call offs think Greg Blair put it perfectly when he said if they don’t want to ride let rriders who do. All in all a good well run meeting . Roll on next season

Excellent meeting with great racing as usual at the Redcar track. Brilliant and deserved win for Joshie.

Here's another view of the final which shows how close Josh came to going through the fence coming out of the second bend and captures his victory salute going up the back straight on the last lap (with Ben Cook still very close behind).

They hadn't completed 3 laps when it happened, despite what the commentary team stated, they even re-showed it and still said the same.

A heat can be awarded after 2 completed laps..Β

012.1.16 Awarding a Heat
If the leading rider has completed at least 2 laps, then the Referee shall
have the sole discretion to either order a re-run or award the heat based
upon the positions when it was caused to be stopped; riders, other than the
one disqualified being advanced one place.

The heat was re run as with Sam Masters withdrawing it left the final semi final place undecided between Jason Edwards and Drew Kemp, both of whom were also in the heat. Β Drew’s win in the re run did indeed qualify him for the semi.

Agree.

Fans don't turn out like they used to either not convinced BSN is a good thing at such meetings. Wonder how Speedway will have gained financially from the streams paid for today and how many fans didn't bother going because it was streamed ?

Enjoyable meeting lots of good races but little excuse for the track being so dry. Moisture was only skin deep so there was heavy dust from the get go , we had to move from the back straight the dust was that bad. Well done Josh Pickering for making that outside line work in the final to beat a very fast Ben Cook. Big well done to Antti Vuolas, whom I didn't expect too much from today but he performed admirably to make the final.Β

It's a one off meeting, and the winner should be the top scorer over 20 heats. It's not a GP ffs...

100% a 20 minute delay between the end of heat 20 and the semi final (as usual) as you're building towards the end of a meeting is completely ludicrous!

Surely a reserve should have taken Masters place in the semi... never seen a rider promoted to a final before who hasn't qualified but we seem to do what we want these days

What a brilliant afternoon's Speedway! Competed by riders who actually wanted to be there and won by a rider who it clearly means something to. Pickering has been absolutely immense these last couple of months. The riders that pulled out at the last minute should be ashamed of themselves but they'll still expect us to support their testimonial meetings and buy their books. There must be something going on as it can't be coincidence that they all accept the booking, are advertised as riding and then on the eve of the meeting pull out, leaving the organisers just hours to sort a replacement out, so I presume there's some kind of rule that they must accept and can only pull out at a certain time? I don't know.Β

Refreshing to hear these riders at least called out if not completely named and shamed by Swales and Parr and credit to BSN for not just glossing over it.Β

I really don't want to pee on his parade, but... did Josh Pickering leave the track after the first start of the semi final, it looked for all the world as though he was about to but then the camera cut away from him. Didn't somebody get excluded at Glasgow the other week for doing that?

It was confusing but Drew Kemp did qualify, with Sam Masters no longer in the meeting he moved up to 6th.

if a top 8 rider in the GP got injured in heat 20 you wouldn’t have a track reserve in a semi, it would be the next top scorer so this was the same and as per the rules.Β

FIM rules are that if a rider is unable to take his place in a Semi Final/Final, he is considered to be in last place in that Semi Final/Final. Nobody is 'promoted' to fill that place.

Once the semis are confirmed yes.Β
If Zmarzlik is leading the meeting and crashes in heat 18 and is withdrawn, they won’t run a semi final with 3 riders only?Β

I didn't say that it had happened, it is just the ruling for if it did.
