Poole 2025

now i dont want to throw a big spanner in the Poole team build , but if Trigger was signed as a stop gap rider on a 2.00 and by some strange turn of fate hr has a steller season up to JUNE . averageing around , say 4.5  .

it would take a brave promotion to replace Ben  with a brand new 2.00 rider ( Mr Cairns ) hopeing he would gain an average of over 4.5 . poss more . no advantage at all .

you would have been better off sticking with Sam and Vinnie and waited untill 1026 , (thats if you run ) !

Assuming it’s Lawson, Tobias, Zach, Rowe, Kerr, Twopointer(Cairns)

that’s leaves 4.32

What about the rumoured Paul Starke?(3.36).

I cannot imagine Poole would drop Foord (3.90) for Starke (3.36) if they'd have 4.32 available?

I agree, which is why I’m holding out hope that someone a bit more exciting will be signed over Starke.
Although Starke would I’m sure up his figure I am sure the management would not have picked him over Foord

Looking at this article, and how the promotion describe the situation, I'd say that the last rider is likely to have an ave 2 points (or just under) higher than Vinnie Foord's ave. The way I read it they had 7 lined up to 38 points including Foord, and dropped/replaced Foord when the limit went to 40

https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/24738479.poole-pirates-danny-ford-vinnie-foords-departure/

Not sure what that means for the other (unannounced) team places though

Could it be that when it went to 40 it gave Danny the chance to sign another potential H/L i.e Rowe who is on 6.11 when his truer av in more like an 8. The 6.11 was his 2023 av as he only did 4 meetings for Glasgow in 2024. He got an 8 av from his 2 home and nearly 8 from his 2 away. This way you potentially have 4 poss H/L Lawson/Kerr/Cook/Rowe.

Lower down you have Thomsen.

Yes you could still have had Foord plus a 2 pointer (Cairns/temp replacement), but maybe he had another firm offer from Workington which he accepted in the meantime.

Maybe Poole do have a better option than Starke lined up but I am anticipating comments such as Starke is an experienced rider capable of scoring well over 3.36 (especially at Poole) as a reserve which he will be, even though it puts us almost 1 point under the 40.

I also found it interesting that after scoring well when riding for Workington at Poole in 2 meetings in Sept i.e 10 plus 2 BP and 5 plus 2 BP, he did not appear as a useful guest for Oxford injuries over the 4 meetings in October for Champ final & KO Cup, when they could have used his Poole experience at least with his low av. Could it be he had conveniently packed up all his equip for the season or maybe he had already been signed by Poole for 2025 ?.

Just my thoughts.

I'm sure Starke picked up a niggling Injury late in the season so he didnt take any extra bookings..

Checked through the results for Sept/Oct and his last 2 meetings were against Poole on 11th & 14th September.

In his last race on 14th in heat 14 he scored 1 plus 1 bonus point.  No mention of fell/crashed/ excl in those 2 meetings that I can find.

That coincided with Workingtons last meeting of the season.

Whatever Poole do the side will be much weaker

Losing Cook and Brennan who if riding on championship this coming season would possibly be the highest averages in the league and replacing them with Rowe and Kerr is a much much weaker option although I like Rowe as a rider

Big season for Zach Cook who hasn’t really progressed that much

No idea why Foord was let go … yes he is reckless and at times dangerous but he scored well and can only surely get better .

Poole promotion usually get it right but this is as tough a team to build this season

I cannot let this pass without a comment. Foord reckless , no mate just very green, but open to a lot of improvemnt. The more he rides the better he will get.

How many other riders are going to get injured on the way though
