So he didn't want to come back then? Worth the management saying that in the media, will get some fans off their back about it imo.

Yep that is what I’d hope to see. A new face to British speedway who will get the luxury of starting at reserve. The Fords often find one surprise signing. Hopefully this year is no different

I think if Poole wanted Vinnie he would’ve been back. Unless Poole took too long deciding their team so he looked elsewhere? Unlikely as the Fords usually have plan A B and C sorted long before they need to

Sure us fans loved to see Vinnie race, but like I've said before he was a gamble and the Ford's might not find that attractive. It'll be interesting to see how he goes next season, could go either way imo.

Vinnie wanted to stay, and so did one of his main sponsors, if Poole had their way and the 38pt limit was imposed I reckon he would of been retained, but as it was 40 pt limit the Poole promotion went in a different direction.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Foord’s conduct during the Oxford meeting played a part in his exit.

To be clear, his erratic racing and villain-like character that evening were great for the BSN cameras, so this is just an observation.

Either way, he’s a huge talent with a big future and I believe Poole’s “loss” is Workington’s gain.

I also understand his girlfriend is associated with Glasgow, so location-wise, it’s much more convenient.

The fact that Thompsen's average is approx 0.5% higher than Vinnie's says something about how the Fords are thinking. They obviously rate Toby's "value per %" over Vinnies, and that the potential 0.5%saving made no significant difference to the choice of other riders.

Exactly that. Thomsen would have averaged even higher if it wasn't for returning too early from injury and has a strong riding skillset. Vinnie has a target on his back already, needs about 10 bikes a season and has a lot more ring its neck and hang on approach. The Fords only look at success for the upcoming season and Tobias was/is the smart choice.

Exactly @lewy the "numbers game" is just an excuse for promoter's to use to avoid getting flack from the fans when dropping a popular rider, well in this instance especially.

Once Ben & Tom left the remaining riders could have returned if Poole wanted them to. 

Poole have every right to build the team however they like obviously. But the points limit didn't stop Foord returning, Poole did.

Tobias is likely to have come cheaper in terms of how many Fencing panels popped during the season too.

I think Vinnie was pencilled in when the limit was expected to be 38. Once it ended up being 40, that gave the us an extra 2.00 to play with for the signing. I'm wondering if Ablitt gets brought back instead.

A numbers game does not mean it was a straight choice between Vinnie and Toby, we always wanted Toby back, not having Vinnie just means we can have a stronger rider elsewhere in the team.

As Danny Ford says If the points limit was 38 ( as in 2024) then Vinnie would be in the mix. However 40 points gives different options and a different mix of riders. I dane't know who else he has in mind?
