Don't see how it's farcical?

Both riders could guest for Sheffield if they have injuries during the season. They could even potentially knock their own teams out of play-off contention (though not likely) by guesting for their rivals.

At least this way, their performances won't effect Ipswich & Belle Vue.

Out of curiosity, what would you prefer, using guests from outwith the Premiership, signing riders from abroad for the KOC, running with their Championship side, or just having a 7 team KOC?

It is farcical cause they shouldn’t even be in it.

You mean Poole I'm guessing?

Personally I see no major reason for them to be invited and see nothing wrong with a team getting a bye. But also not bothered that they were invited in either.

I guess I feel there have been far more "farcical" decisions made in recent seasons (GP wildcards based on Nationality or Premiership play-offs picked for "commercial" reasons) so this seems very tame in comparison.

Shouldn’t even be in it.My opinion.

Bang on. Its probably the worst idea I have seen in British speedway since that ridiculous British League cup from years ago which only lasted a season.

Make more sense if Poole could bolster team with an unattached rider or two . As it stands though, ridiculous. And promoters wonder why fans get fed up and laugh at the sport.

the last thing the sport needs is more guests

if poole want to strengthen up then it should be with unattached riders who want an extra couple of meetings

I agree that would be better.

Maybe the agreement should have been to sign unattached riders, if Poole didn't agree, race without them?

Although part of me feels in a league where plentiful guests are used what harm is a couple more?

How would that work then? We have to have riders of Premiership heat leader quality. Very difficult and expensive to draft in riders who are unattached.

I also find it bizarre that Poole don't want to ride in the Premiership - but have agreed to ride in its KO Cup competition!! I realise it will only be a couple (or 4) matches, but even so.

The fact they've been added in to the competition is ridiculous.  Try explaining it to a new fan of the sport (as if trying to explain most things that happen in the sport wouldn't be hard enough!!).  It's a bit like having an English Premier League Cup competition in football and having a few EFL Championship sides in it, just to make up the numbers.

Not sure any 'new fan' would need any negative explanation  from any existing fan? 7 Prem teams plus the Championship Champions - They would surely just be happy and content with 4 cup quarterfinals.

As for Poole not wanting Premiership, they've been there, lost money, can't race on their traditional Weds race night and still get healthy Championship attendances with 30% less cost! It's  a no brainer a d has been well documented.

I dont really know why giving a team a bye is so bad, far more credible than having a team from a lower league in it. As you say it would not happen in football

Agree 100% pal

there a funny breed always wanting to be a big fish in a pond  without development of the riders in the league below but also not prepared to be involved in the top league aswell

The epitome of self interest, who have always had a big influence on the management committee, but I think that has backfired a bit on them and bit them on the arse hence the 40pt limit not 38pt and subsequent resignation, no doubt clive tyers, Skidder1, SteveLyric2, lord cleeve will be on shortly to explain that 2+2 doesn't make 4.

Exactly and They wonder why they can’t attract new supporters and keep them.

It's all contrived and made up over here though isn't it?

Another competition following the same path won't make any difference...

It will deter hardly one Poole fan from attending I would think, as we all know how it all works..

Surely no one still takes UK Speedway too seriously?

The crowd at Sheffield might by a bit impacted given the competition may have a low interest for some top league fans,  but the turn out at Poole should be decent...

Potentially on 26 March at Wimborne Road a spectacular clash of the titans of speedway could take place?

With such a early season meeting and riders availability at a high, we could see the likes of Robert Lambert, Bartosz Zmarzlik or even Artem Laguta lining up.

Now this would be spectacular and a meeting worth attending and an attendance at a record high to pay the guests?

A football fan would probably see similarities with the EFL Trophy where Premier League U21 sides are added to make up the numbers.

If we go by last year instead, try explaining to a new fan that one team have decided not to bother entering and the two worst teams in the league have been given a bye to the semi-finals.
