Steve Shovlar
For those moaning that Poole don’t have an NDL team. Contact Matt or Danny Ford, tell them you are willing to put together a NDL team at Wimborne Road. Tell them you are prepared to cover all expenses, from stadium rental to paying the riders and getting the programs printed, to paying the BSPA for officials, to the advertising of the meetings. You keep all the gate money. And pay for the shortfall. If there’s a profit it’s happy days! If it’s a loss, you dig into your savings. What’s not to like? Go for it!

Run a NDL team at Poole, and due to stadium rental on top of other issues, and you will lose a crap load of money. No one in their right mind would do that.

Do you think all the current NDL teams breakeven or do you think some do it because it is right to provide a platform for riders to develop and see it as an investment worth making into the sport? Some may invest, others may trot out lame excuses.

Do you know roughly what the Stadium rental is these days Steve ? It’s a long time since I’ve been to Poole but at a guess I would imagine it has either needed family extensive renovation of will soon be in need of it and that money, or at least a chunk of has to be paid for through the turnstiles. It must now be one of the oldest stadiums left in speedway.

lewy
1 hour ago, therefused said: oh look someone else not understanding the point They make a small loss, but that would be offset by the profit they do make, absolutely correct the nl is not about making money it's about developing British riders. I'm sure the cost of taking the 2024 team and hangers on to Las Vegas as confirmed by clive tyers on here would easily offset any losses, fans of winning not fans of speedway, the nl isn't about winning it's called ndl for a reason. The word development is a clue. 1

Surely "the best supporters in the league" (as is often claimed) would turn out in sufficient numbers to support the NDL to at least break even level. Or is it just about winning? As others have said, NDL racing can be as good a spectacle, and at times better, than all other levels. Well it just didn't work the last time with the Buccs, despite them being successful (winning!!) on track. Even with admission at half the normal price and even less for season ticket holders and sponsors. It simply didn't catch the public's imagination compared to Pirates attendance.

Which possibly sums up the kind of support the Poole Parasites have. Fans of other clubs clearly enjoy having the opportunity to see less experienced riders improving their skills in the NDL. Poole, however, appears to have a glory-hunting, bandwagon-jumping fanbase.
