Poole 2025

Yes not a bad shout, he certainly isn't the worst 2 pointer.

I still think not getting Vinnie back is a massive mistake, if we get Harrison Ryan or similar how can anyone be sure he will turn out better than Vinnie. Numbers game is a smokescreen.

I suppose you could say the same when we signed Vinnie last season. There was no guarantee he was going to be better than Max especially when Max was starting to improve when he was dropped.

But I do agree numbers game is a handy excuse to have.

Also just read on Max James FB page that on 2nd Dec he posted that Edinburgh advised him he was not part of their Team plans for 2025.

That leaves only Plym or Poole.

Would be a great way to showcase his ability until end June if he signed for Poole.

Berwick haven’t named their 7

I think most would agree Vinnie had a lot of potential and although not a certainty he would do better than Max he definitely had more potential and had become a fans favourite, I would say he has the potential to be better than any new rider coming in unless it is someone of Tate Zischke's ability.

I think it's difficult to assess until we know who the number 6 actually is.

I agree the "All about the points/numbers limit" does make it look at bit strange considering where we are at, where Vinnie would have fitted even on a 40 point limit, considering  he had already been allegedly allocated a slot when it was 38 points. Even more strange when the top 5 had near enough been agreed/known about by a good few on this forum long before any announcements.

Suppose we just have to wait a bit longer to find out the number 6 in order to work out maybe why.

If it is a young Aussie then you would think all the planning - Work Visa - accommodation - Engineers - sponsors - equipment etc would have taken a long time to sort out before any actual signing/announcement. That's without the fact they would have considered such a rider to have more potential than Vinnie. Difficult considering that any undiscovered possible gem would not have ridden UK tracks yet.

Harrison Ryan is one of the very few as he did a few meetings for Leszno U24 last season and chances are he will be again in 2025. Have seen a good few of his races on Youtube but difficult to assess if he would be better.

Having said that I thought Ben Cook when he first signed would be out by the time of first GSA back in 2021 based on his Aussie form so got that badly wrong.

Interesting when looking at Vinnie say compared to Max James.

Vinnie is one year older (18). First rode full season in NDL with Kent in 2021 then Leicester full season in 2022.

In 2023 also Leicester but Max (then 16) rode his first season and outscore Vinnie 6.79 to Vinnie 5.14 incl bonus. Last season both at Leic Max av incl bonus was 8.30 compared to Vinnie 7.86 incl bonus.

Now considering Vinnie is one year older and with 2 years more experience than Max it makes you think could ??? Max have plenty of improvement in him considering his age and limited racing experience. Factor in his maiden season at Edinburg last season in Champ.

Just a thought, as if you saw Vinnie in 2022/23 you probably would have never expected to see the heroics he performed for Poole in 2024.

As expected. Didn’t realise he was 3.36. An absolute gift at reserve. He knows bike issues won’t be tolerated and what’s expected of him. He is more a 5-6 pointer. Should make mincemeat of many of the Championship reserves.

I can imagine a double change happening, if Starke starts well and ups that average😉

How do you think he got that average?

There's a reason for Poole fans to be positive about Starke.

Ignore his Glasgow form in the top 5 3.55 (4.45), as he's very unlikely to break into Poole's top 5 & concentrate on his Workington form at reserve 4.43 (5.53).

I'd agree it's a stretch to think he'll be a 5-6 rider, but could put a point on his average.

No doubt Starke will up his average significantly. But very disappointed to sign him over Vinnie Foord.

Why did Danny say Vinnie wasn’t retained due to numbers game?

In a 38 point team including Vinnie, the 1-5 would have been different. Maybe even with Vinnie in the 1-5?!

Maybe because the majority of the team was sorted based on the planned 38 point limit & not the 40 that it changed to.
