Poole 2025

Do Poole have a problem in that if the Wonderkid Cairns joins mid season they are finding it hard to sign a Number 7 who is prepared to do possibly less than half a season before being axed?

No, the rider has already signed . They just like to spread out the announcements

No problems at all. Rider announcements are spread out to get maximum media coverage- traditional and social.  No brainer really.

I understand the SM strategy and just wish all clubs followed suit as by announcing it in one go is very last century and does not take into account how the public access information. We no longer have to wait with baited breath for the Speedway Star to be delivered to find out about other clubs signings. However, to me it feels like Poole are taking more time than normal, with larger gaps between announcements.

its quite interesting how different clubs do it

in the past lynn have been criticised for dragging it out too long and naming the whole team straight after the agm this year seems to have gone down well

horses for courses i guess

plus if you want to sell season tickets early then naming the whole team helps

Sheffield and Glasgow did a great job of announcing in 1 this year, Ipswich also did a good job in announcing their 1-7 over a few weeks.

As long as you do a good job of it, either way seems perfectly fine.

You have Redcar and Belle Vue doing it in front of an audience at a supporters meet and I think that is pretty effective too especially to have some of the lads in attendance.

The drip feeding of news over the course of the winter is a bug bear of mind, that's probably a throw back to the Newport days when some years it felt we didn't know who would be there on PnP day though!

If the temp reserve has a 2.3 average, he can be replaced by a 2 point rider. If clubs make a single change, they can sign someone on an equal or lower average, don't have to fit under the points limit.

I can't see Paul Starke being the temporary signing as he's 99 likely to score more than his reserve partner (can't think of any 2 point riders who would outscore him).

Oops!. Of course he can. DOH.

Engaging fingers before thinking!

Panic stations at Wimborne Road since Glasgow announced their line-up.

Bearing in mind Poole announced Richard Lawson on Sept 1st (his testimonial) and then Danny Ford said in November that the whole 1-7 would be announced by Christmas - reiterated on Saturday - I guess its all been planned carefully. 2025 Season tickets already announced with prices frozen at 2024 rates and some new additional sponsors coming on board - all is well at Wimborne Road, with a new track grader blade in situ and new air fence planned in readiness for 2026!!

There would be no problem there imo, once the other clubs have picked the best 2.00 riders, the next best remaining would have the choice of half a season at Poole (putting himself in the shop window) or just riding NDL & hoping to get picked up later!

Yes it is as if Glasgow have any chance of winning. We shall have to see if the team is as good as some seem to think or is someone a little bit over confident!

Top 5 is really good, I'll give them that. But not sure I would to go into a season with 2 two-pointers.

Reserves win meetings we all know that, the hope is Hodder performs above his current level. If I was picking a 2 pointer, you could do worse than Jody Scott, I thought he did well last season.

Edinburgh won the champ convincingly a few years back with masters, cook, sedgy side with some pretty duff reserves. Clegg and Aaron fox I think it was averaged just over 3. So there is a precedent

Clegg doesn't sound too awful, he wasn't that bad on his day.

Ended the season in 2014 with sneddon and fox at reserve. Sedgy and Steve worrall started the year at reserve. Was clegg and Branford in 2015.

Yes, I think it's a risk, but I guess you could argue those riders have the biggest potential to improve their average, meaning if the others just deliver even what they managed last year, that's a very good position to be in. We'll see what happens. Personally, I don't think the Glasgow team is obviously stronger than anyone else we've seen so far, and it's hard to judge until the other teams are complete.

I'm liking that quite a few teams have had a bit of a shakeup, so plenty opportunity for things to pan out differently next year.

I wonder if Jody Scott could be Pooles starting 2 pointer and then when released at end June could rejoin Oxford with a fit again Scott Nicholls?
