Yes but Tobias won't be facing another season having lost his best friend and mechanic as well as becoming a dad for the 2nd time!

With a new and respected mechanic, his end of season scores, which didn't affect his GSA, will continue upwards and out of reach of a reserve, imo.

Who’s to say he won’t become a dad for the third time next season?…..lol

That's only your opinion, not fact another example is sam hagon so stop talking rubbish.

Just because it is my opinion doesnt make it rubbish. Sam Hagon was already a 2.56 and we all knew that would go up, not fact just an opinion. I would say in most peoples opinion there are no 2 pointers that will  achieve a 4.41 average by the end of June plus I expect Thomsen's average to be higher by then.

Plenty of speculation about the last two, but does anyone out there have any idea of when the next official announcement might come?

Both before Christmas!! Danny usually issues something on Weds evenings.

A word of caution if it is 21 yr old Harrison Ryan as mentioned/rumoured on here. He rode a SGP2 qualifier. Can't find scores but he is listed 12 of 16th qualifiers last season in Italy.

He is on Leszno's books and roe U24 for first time on a flying visit last season.

Only rode 4 matches - 11 rides - 3 x 3rds and 6 last places with 2 retirements. I assume on Leszno supplied equipment.

Consider that to Mcdiarmid (signed by Oxford) only 16 who scored 35 points incl bonus from 17 rides - 8 x 1st - 3 x 2nd - 3 x 3rd and 3 last places.

Just from that would indicate Mcdiarmid is a different class potentially.

I would assume Leszno ( who snap up plenty of decent class young Aussies) are not stupid, but it would concern me as he is not a raw youngster and his form in that short stint in Europe is not one that makes me think he is even on a par with the likes of Hook.

The question is would Starke on his low 3.36 score more points than a Ryan on 4 with no experience on our more technical tracks. I would argue that at Poole especially Starke would score quite a bit more. Last seasons 3 matches at Poole with his 6.57 4 ride CMA incl bonus would indicate he probably would.

For me a massive gamble considering we need at leas one reserve to score a decent figure over the 8 reserve rides.

Only one person on here has mentioned Harrison Ryan alongside a few other Aussies, so hardly 'rumoured'! Incidentally he was in the 5-man Aussie SON2 squad this summer although not making the final 3, with only Rew  and Pearson scoring, so clearly felt to be reasonable enough by Mark Lemon.

how many people are required to start a rumour then?

A somewhat touchy reply Clive.

As a sponsor maybe you have an inside track on the signing ahead of us.

I can only comment based on the available stats I could find which were not great. However since sending this I did find a report on the Mildura Speedway FB page where they rode the Victoria State champ last weekend won by Lydsey with Bowes 2nd and Mcdarmid 3rd.

Ryan  scored 10 points in his first ever meeting at the track and reportedly improved with each ride after familiarising himself with the track.

Didn't realise he was chosen for the SON2 squad so yes Lemon must have spotted something in him.

Maybe he is a decent prospect but still risky with a no doubt lower down 2 pointer also riding for 3 months if we assume Cairns arriving.

This is my take as how I see the last 2 signings unfolding.

If your "temporary" reserve scores a few & goes to a possible 2.3 & Poole increase their team average then how will you fit Cairns in? I think Starke is your temporary signing due to the fact he has a low average but rides WR well & will be expected to score about 5 points knowing he will be paid accordingly for doing his job & allowing Cairns to come in at the end of June.

But does it work that way.

If the 2 pointer scores only 1 point per meeting, does he not stay as a 2 pointer under the rules ??. If so you are just replacing a 2 with Cairns another 2.

Hodder _ Garrad - Mcgurk all av below 2 in 2024 but still have a min 2 allocated to them.

Apologies. I must try to adjust my tone.

I was merely trying to point out that I have notseen or heard his (Ryan's) name anywhere else than in the one single post on this thread. So much so I had to look up his SON2 inclusion.

In any case Poole's remaining 2 riders should be named by Christmas, so not long to wait.

No problem Clive.

Very rare I take your replies/contributions the wrong way.

Yes all will become clear before Christmas.

If the temp reserve has a 2.3 average, he can be replaced by a 2 point rider. If clubs make a single change, they can sign someone on an equal or lower average, don't have to fit under the points limit.

I can't see Paul Starke being the temporary signing as he's 99 likely to score more than his reserve partner (can't think of any 2 point riders who would outscore him).

I agree he's older than McDiarmid and his record is nothing to shout about, but I believe he's a late convert from motocross so probably has less experince. Also recently third in NSW under 21 State title [14 pts in heats =  Tate Zischke]

And for the record I haven't started a rumour, merely listed the most likely candidates for the subject of somebody else's rumour.

PS I omitted Matt Gilmore as he doesn't appear to be racing.
