Gavan
Poole don’t often get team building wrong They had to lose points but to replace Cook and Brennan with Rowe and Kerr is a huge drop off To then build a point under the limit would be incredible mismanagement surely Maybe they let Foord go because of the baggage he brings?? And it seems a lot of people are glossing over Cairns and what he might do …. No guarantee he will smash in big scores but will be better than most 2 pointers … but he might not set the world on fire immediately Im sure Poole will get it right they often do but at the moment things don’t look good

They will still have one of the strongest teams in the league and will be challenging for silverware even if they pick Paul Starke. The continual hand wringing concerning whether the team will be strong enough really is boggling my mind.

Bitza Posted yesterday at 12:02 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:02 AM I was just looking at the "confirmed riders for 2025" thread, and it struck me that no team has yet confirmed a rider on 2. The number 7s so far include the likes of Vinnie and Killeen, making the Pirates apparent choice of employing a 2 look like potentially a risky strategy, bearing in mind that a reserves points are worth the same as a heat leaders. If the rumours are to be believed, there'll be at least three 2.00 riders next season (Glasgow x2 and Redcar) Possibly four or five altogether. I'd guess five, with Perry (he's got a place for definite), Hodder, James, Spencer and Scott seeming the most likely candidates.

I get your point, but any points Oxford or Workington gain from their number 7, Poole will gain from their 3,4&5.
HGould
The question with Paul Starke is not his ability in my opinion. The problem has been his equipment, or lack of suitable bikes and engines. On the basis that the Poole Promtion can usually find someone to cough up a few decent engines and bikes and someone to maintain them, then if Starke was to be sponsired / given, the kind of kit others have been given, he has the ability to actually add at least a point and a half, may be more to that average certianly from the reserve berth.
