Glasgow Tigers v Redcar Bears, Fri 30th Aug @ Ashfield Stadium

Recommended Posts

As the Glasgow TM has said, there is three cup finals left, starting tonight against tough opponents...

Teams taken from Bears website.

1 Chris Harris (c)  8.79

2 Jack Smith 5.24

3 Anders Rowe 7.34

4 Matic Ivacic 6.00

5 Leon Flint 6.87

6 James Pearson 5.02

7 Tom Spencer (G) 2.00

1 – Charles Wright (C) 8.54

2 – Rider Replacement for Dan Gilkes 5.35

3 – Danyon Hume (G) 5.10

4 – Jason Edwards 6.00

5 – Danny King 7.66

6 – Ben Trigger 2.95

7 – Jake Mulford 4.10

It should be perfect conditions tonight and no doubt be some cracking racing, so get your backside trackside.

This is too close to call. If Glasgow are to win and take the bonus point it needs Matic to ride like he did in heats 3 and 9 against Edinburgh. If he rides like he did in heat 14 we have no chance of winning never mind taking the bonus point. Also depends on which Danyon turns up - he could be a match winner for the Bears. Whatever happens it should be a brilliant night of speedway AND its dry!

His away average is as poor as his home average being the polar opposite of his away one.

So tiggers could still get 6 points, but got to beat Oxford and score over 56 points to get bonus, but when is the cut off date, and has this fixture been arranged yet ?

Officially, no. But possibly a week on Sunday.

Danyon rode well, Matic didn't yet we still managed to win. And it was a brilliant night of speedway, credit to both teams and the track staff. It even stayed dry. Gotta try and keep Bomber, Leon,  Anders and James for next season and it  would be nice to also reward Jack with a place. All will depend on the points limit.

The meeting warmed up nicely in the second half however looking down the racecard beforehand its nigh on impossible to see where we can get heat advantages with Ivacic, Spencer and Smith. Even a couple more points from Ivacic would make the difference. I'm not sure if he's not got it or not interested but gives in far too easily.

Flint hit his high water mark for the Tigers but its not enough to keep him onboard for 2025 unless the points limit remains ridiculously low.

His average increases a little from tomorrow, to 5.08 and it's Jack that drops back down to reserve on 4.25....

Last night was Ivacic's sixth meeting and he'll have a  average of less than 4.00 so would expect him to be reserve for our meeting at Armadale.

I didn't think he could drop below the 6.00 assessed average he's on??

I wondered about him remaining on 6.00 but didn't Birminghams Poles, also assessed as 6.00, get "real" averages after six meetings?

That will be a disaster, how can someone so good on the continent look like a novice here, he backs off in first bend if anyone is near him, and if he gates, rides all the wrong lines and gets passed
