Worst Referee.

Recommended Posts

I always felt refs were and are fair, the thing about a refs call is it’s mostly subjective, it’s the way they see it and not everyone will agree but that’s ok, yes they make mistakes but mostly it’s just a subjective call so it will always be wrong in someone’s eyes, I always believed that if you had a 50/50 decision go against you the next time it happens the ref will give it in your favour, unless of course you gave them a piece of your mind then they might just remember that

If riders made as few mistakes as referees do which affect races and match results then they would have something to complain about.
No referee/umpire/judge/assistant in any sport sets out to do a bad job nor do players/riders/competitors.
In all cases the officials final decision is just that...final and we should be grateful we have them to make those decisions 'cuz without them we have no sport.

But, as spectators/fans that should not disallow us from the opportunity to have a moan at/about both players and officials - Its all part and parcel of life which we need to get on with and accept (grudgingly) that mistakes can and do happen.

Watching the meeting with no team allegiance some of the decisions were certainly questionable? As an ex-football referee and match assessor I am amazed that speedway referees are not assessed at meetings by ex-referees. If this was implemented it would help the current referees to enhance their performance and eliminate supporters questioning decisions like last night by supporters throughout the UK. Some riders did not help the referee by their actions last night either but an assessor would observe for the future. Sorry just my thoughts.

Reg Trott as an ex rider made some bad calls in my memory.

I would second that.

I attended a meeting at Arena Essex when Reg was the referee and was appalled, as a neutral, at his obviously biased decisions in favour of the home team.

My mother, a Belle Vue Aces fan, and I, a Wimbledon Dons fan, went to see our teams meet at Plough Lane with Reg Trott as referee. Every decision he made during the meeting both of us agreed was wrong. Every referee has a bad meeting but Reg seemed to excel in having a bad meeting every time we saw meetings he was in charge of.
