Workington 2025

There could be a lot of reasons on why the promotion chose Troy over Cookie. I wouldn't be surprised if it was down to wages though. Workington are running on a limited budget and Mr.Bains has been very vocal about backing the team and bringing the numbers in.

I really hope speedway at Workington is here to stay for the foreseeable but it doesn't seem promising after only two seasons.

Would imagine all clubs are running on a limited budget just some more limited than others.

One thing I would say that doesn't apply to Andrew is that he is very vocal. A generally unassuming guy who loves Speedway and achieved something worthy of praise. He has done this through sheer hard work and a shrewd business eye which has enabled him to acquire services and materials at a cost that has made the project achievable.

He is probably not in a position where he can afford to suffer sizeable financial losses every season. He wants Championship level speedway to be sustainable while supplying the fans with top entertaining racing in the process. The least we can do is support the club.I believe it is a 10 year project so don't understand why you feel it doesn't seem promising after only 2 seasons. At the very worst the future holds NDL racing.

Time to be more positive in your posts, get behind the comets and stop bitching about what if so and so signed.

We have speedway for another year get behind the team, if you can put your hand in your pocket and do some sponsorship to help the promotion out UTC

Imagine calling it bitching when I'm having a discussion on a public forum. A forum is there to engage discussion. Clown.

Being negative about the future of the comets is not very good on a public forum. 🤡

Not being negative at all. My first comment was regarding cookie and batch. Both have their flaws and I was trying to spark a discussion in this thread due to it being quiet for a while.

My second was regarding the financial situation and I clearly stated I hope the comets are here for the foreseeable. If you can't have a wide range of different topics going on in a forum then what's the point of a forum?

This spots got a few wet wipes and snowflakes.

Pretty much common knowledge that workington owe cookie a large amount of money for a prolonged period last season.

This is a forum, where people discuss topics about speedway in general and workinfton comets.

Maybe you should leave it @Neila if it offends you

Us with a brain cell know you were starting a discussion/debate. Wouldn’t lower yourself marra getting into a slinging match with them.

The only person I would believe here is Andrew. I would bet if there was any truth in it he won't be owed anything now.

I won't bother in future. I can see why some people leave the forum though.

Anyone watching the crump solo classic?

Bought it a month ago because I got my dates completely wrong. Shame Tate isn't riding but Bowes looked solid in his first heat. Gated well and had plenty of speed. I'm sure having his own machinery (if he does) and track experience is playing a part.

Yeah I’m watching it too. He looks good, blip in his second ride but held his own for most the race just now against Becker and tungate, that mistake cost him.

Yeh, he looks like he'll be a good rider for us. Gates well and the little mistake taking the bend too wide was punished by two good riders.

I think Bowes has an important part to play for Workington. If he can just keep his assessed average, not easy for a first season in GB, then that keeps Hook & Foord at reserve for longer. As that could be the strongest (if not one of the strongest) reserve pairing in the league. Gives Workington real strength at the bottom end.
